The 2015 Group Travel Award
The 19th Group Travel Awards are set to take place on Friday 5th June 2015. This year the gala evening will be held at the 5 Star London Hilton on Park Lane.
The Group Travel Awards are decided by the readers of GTO magazine and have earned an enviable reputation as the most distinguished and respected event serving the group travel market; they reflect a highly valued 
endorsement from customers in this most important market sector.

The awards represent a unique opportunity to network with over 400 travel trade colleagues; an ideal chance to make new connections and reconnect with old ones.

This unforgettable gala evening will involve a networking drinks reception at 6.45pm and guests can expect to be seated for dinner by 7.30pm in the exquisite Grand Ballroom. A four-course dinner will precede the presentation of the awards, and will include a performance from a leading West End musical. You can expect great entertainment until the early hours, dancing to ultimate party band MadHen, a fun casino and the ever popular chocolate fountain!

The awards will be hosted by comedian, writer and actor Hal Cruttenden. A regular face on TV, Hal has hosted BBC1's Live at The Apollo and appeared on a range of other variety and panel shows such as Would I Lie to You, Mock the Week and Sunday Night at The Palladium. He recently toured the UK with his stand-up show Tough Luvvie.

Newsletter Apr 2015 Packaged travel of UK visits


About one in every six leisure visits to the UK is purchased on a packaged travel basis

• In 2013, the International Passenger Survey estimated that 17% of overseas leisure visits to the UK were purchased on a packaged travel basis*. 13.4% of all holiday nights were generated from packaged travel, and 13.4% of all spend.

• Packaged travel volumes among overseas leisure visitors increased by 7% over the period 2011-2013, while spend went up by 12%.

• Europe is the primary source of packaged travel to the UK, with 17% of leisure arrivals choosing this option. The sector appears to have held its own over a period of rapid growth in visitor demand since 2011.

• It is a similar picture in the North American market, with 17% of visits in 2013 being purchased as packaged travel.

• The popularity of packaged travel is most pronounced in the developing markets. In 2013, 23% of Asian visits were on a packaged basis.

 Latin America offers gaining potential, where 30% of leisure visitors travelled to the UK in 2013 on a packaged travel basis.

• The IPS data indicates that in 2013, share of market from packaged travel arrivals has stabilised at about 17% of visits and expenditure, remaining at around these levels since 2011.

*Data on packaged travel in 2013 was based on responses to the following question among a sample of 16,500 leisure visitors to the UK: “Was your accommodation in the UK paid for as part of an inclusive tour or holiday where fares and accommodation cannot be separated?”
