This month we congratulate alumni who were recognised in the recent Queen's Birthday Honours List, including two who were amongst the first graduating cohorts from the University. These include Science graduates Professor Alan Cowman AC and Professor Mark von Itzstein AO.

Dealing with homelessness as a teen and becoming a young father, motivated him to renew his education journey and a scholarship though the Annual Appeal is helping him along this path.

Although based in the United States, Dr Jeff Thompson chose Griffith to complete his PhD in mediation, conflict resolution and non-verbal crisis communication. Now he spends his days working in law enforcement and helping people through the worst moments of their lives.
