Happy New Year!
Wow, what an amazing year we had in 2018! Thank you to our Past President, Laurie Harrison, and our 2018 board for their commitment to our chapter and to the fundraising profession. From increased membership to a successful National Philanthropy Day with over 600 community leaders and philanthropists, it was a year to remember. I hope everyone is as excited as I am to keep the momentum going in 2019!
I also want to thank April Strickland who rolled off our board after many years of service. Thank you for your commitment to making our chapter so successful!
Our 2019 board met in December and have been working hard to make this year one of the best yet. I hope you will take advantage of all the wonderful networking and educational opportunities we have planned. Be on the lookout for new pop-up workshops, socials, and additional scholarships for our members to attend conferences.
Don't miss our first meeting on January 15th. Virginia Thumm will be back with the always important topic of instilling a culture of philanthropy throughout your organization. Please take the opportunity to arrive early and visit the 2019 committee chairs from 11:30-12 prior to the start of our monthly programs. There are so many ways to get involved and you will be able to learn about and sign-up for a committee of your choice that day.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as President. If you have any questions or suggestions for our chapter, please feel free to contact me at npellegrino@norfolkcollegiate.org. I look forward to a great year of professional development, to meeting new friends, and to celebrating philanthropy with you!
Warm Regards,
Nicole M. Pellegrino, CFRE
2019 President, AFP-HR
