Training invitation

Dear PLANHEAT community,

It is our pleasure to invite you to the first PLANHEAT live training session, taking place during EUSEW in Brussels!

PLANHEAT Training Session: MAPPING HEATING/COOLING DEMAND AND SUPPLY IN CITIES WITH THE PLANHEAT TOOL

Date: 8th of June 2018

Location: Euroheat & Power offices, Cours St Michel 30a, 1040 Brussels (access via Rue Père de Deken)

84% of heating and cooling energy in the EU is still generated using fossil fuels, in sharp contrast with EU climate ambitions. The deployment of energy technologies such as heat pumps, solar thermal buffers and district heating is severely delayed in several member states. Meanwhile, public authorities are uncertain which regulatory instruments to implement to encourage a cost-effective energy transition. The aim of the PLANHEAT project is to provide local authorities with an easy-to-use tool to draft low-carbon heating/cooling strategies. This open-source tool can be used by policy makers to build low-carbon plans at local level that align with the ambitions of the member states and EU.

The PLANHEAT live training session will involve an instructive and hands-on training session for mapping heating and cooling demand and supply in cities on 8th of June 10:00-15:00 in Brussels at the Euroheat & Power offices, close to EUSEW premises.

The training session, held by our experts from VITO/EnergyVille, consists of two parts:

  • A strategic training session on heating and cooling technologies and overview on relevant regulation on heating and cooling

  • A technical training session with a prototype of the PLANHEAT tool for non-GIS experts to visualize the heating and cooling demand and supply in their city

For more details and the full programme, please see here.

To ensure a hands-on training experience, the maximum number of participants is 20. Priority will be given to representatives of cities and municipalities. Registration is free of charge but mandatory.

We are looking forward to welcoming you!
