Conference registration is here! Conference registration is here! Hey did you hear? Conference registration is here! We have a great lineup of classes, speakers and fun to have the best conference in history! I hope all of you are as excited as I am for August, even though it’s the end of the summer, it will be a great way to end it and finish my year off as President. I hope to see all of you there.
Just a few quick housekeeping things too this month…if you are interested in running for the Board of Directors, we have three offices available: 2nd Vice President, Secretary and Director at Large. If you have any questions on the responsibilities of these positions, please ask! They are great ways to give back to the Association and will give you some great leadership experience along the way.
The WCEF has put together a great fundraiser this year, and it’s our conference T-Shirts. The response we received about the 2017 Conference Committee shirts was so great we all thought it would be a great idea to make baseball shirts available for everyone! Attached to the conference registration is an order form for a T-shirt and they can be picked up at conference. We’d like to get a picture with everyone in their shirts on Wednesday evening, so make sure you have it by then!
Also, a brief update on the Northern Conference…it was another ROUSING success! We had almost 150 Clerks from across the north (and a few from the South too) attend multiple classes over both days. Everyone had a great time, great food, and learned a ton. Next year’s will be just as good if not better.
I hope all of you are enjoying your spring and taste of summer. My wife and I have been able to get our bikes out a few times so far, and are looking forward to even more bike rides and warm weather! Happy Spring!

August 22-25, 2017 (Extended Conference) Pre-Conference Day is Tuesday, August 22nd; The conference is from Wednesday morning, August 23rd through 11:30 am on Friday, August 25.

Need Financial Help to Attend the Conference? |

| In 2016, the WCEF gave out $6,000 worth of scholarships to attend the 2016 WMCA annual conference in the City of Appleton. The scholarship awards are reimbursable with receipts turned in for conference expenses such as: registration fees, hotel accommodations, and mileage or transportation fees. Take full advantage of your WMCA membership and apply for one of the WCEF Scholarships to the annual conference in August. Scholarship winners must attend the full conference - Wednesday through Friday.
You can click here to fill out a scholarship application on-line or Click here for a paper version of the 2017 Annual WMCA Conference Scholarship Application. The scholarship application deadline is June 30th. The submitted applications will be reviewed and scored for timeliness and completeness and awarded at the WCEF Committee meeting to be held in July. DO NOT FORGET to send in a letter of support from your supervisor or chief elected official. Scholarship recipients will be notified by email and letter of their award as soon as possible thereafter so arrangements for conference attendance can be made. Apply Now!

| WCEF is selling baseball jersey-type shirts as one of its fundraisers this year. Each district has been assigned a specific color of shirt to represent its “team”. These shirts will be great attire at the Tailgate Cookout-President’s Reception on Wednesday evening at the Annual Conference. Show your District Spirit – order your shirt today! These shirt orders must be picked up at the 2017 Annual Conference at the Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells.
If you are not attending, make sure to find a friend that is attending and can pick up your order.

Nomination forms must be received by the WMCA Executive Director by June 14th of each year. You can click on the following titles - The Guidelines and Nomination Form or they can be found on the WMCA website in the Programs tab, or contact the WMCA Executive Director at coordinator@wisclerks.org . Because of the level of detail required in the nomination, it is strongly recommended that if someone is going to nominate, they should work with the individual.

Are You Ready to Run?

Have you been an Active Member of the WMCA for a few years and ready to give something back for what you have gained from this association. The WMCA is looking for a few good members to run for office on the WMCA Board of Directors.
You need to fill out and send in a Board of Directors Application Packet-2017 (click on this title), or you can find on the WMCA website. June 1st is the deadline for the Board of Director Application to be submitted electronically to the WMCA Executive Director at coordinator@wisclerks.org and/or mailed to the WMCA Office at 1414 Montclair Place Fort Atkinson, WI 53558. Applications must be received by 4:00 pm and include a letter of support from your immediate supervisor/primary elected official.
Here are the open positions for the 2017-2018 year. You can read a short job description on page 4 of the packet.
- 2nd Vice President- the person elected to this seat will move up to 1st Vice-President and then President. The candidate for this position must have been a Committee Chair or have held another position on the Board of Directors.
- Secretary—one-year term
- Director-at-Large-There is one 1-year position
No prior position on the Board is required for Secretary or Director-at-Large positions.

Have Your Educational Efforts Recognized This Year
PEC - PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION CERTIFICATE - ANNUAL APPLICATION |
This application is designed for annual recognition of your extraordinary efforts for completing additional education to gain knowledge of the current laws and processes to assist you and your municipality towards a productive and efficient office.
Send in the 2016-2017 PEC Annual Application Form on or before June 1st this year and attach the required documentation for proof of attendance. The Certification Committee will review your annual application and verify the points you have earned. Then you will be recognized at the annual WMCA Conference and receive a Diamond, Gold or Silver Certificate for your achievements.*
The Certificates are based on the following hours per year:
Silver Certificate for 25-50 hours
Gold Certificate for 51-74 hours
Diamond Certificate for 75+ hours
In addition, all courses listed in this application count toward state certification and will be tracked and documented for you by the WMCA. After you have accumulated the required points for certification, you will send in the certification application with a copy of the annual certificates you have received. You will not need to send in all of the individual certificates of attendance again! The $20 annual fee will be deducted from the regular certification fee for every annual certificate you use.
*You do not have to be working toward certification to qualify for the annual certificate.
