Dear AFP-Hampton Roads Members,
What a wonderful day we had celebrating National Philanthropy Day! We had 600 fundraisers, philanthropists, volunteers and guests gathered at The Main to celebrate this year’s honorees and philanthropy in Hampton Roads! Thank you to Ashley Gentry and the NPD committee for all that they did to make the day a success, Kenda Goldberg Council for exceeding sponsorship goals, Nicole Pellegrino for ensuring our invitations, ads and program were perfect and Renee Duval Fairchild for working with Ironclad to produce such amazing videos!
2018 has been a successful year for AFP-HR! We designed and implemented a new website and a new newsletter that went to over 7,000 people. We had 600 guests attend National Philanthropy Day, over 650 people attend our monthly educational luncheons and more than 75 people attend our Fundraising Leadership Symposium. We were awarded the Ten Star Gold Award, Friends of Diversity Award, hosted Pop-ups for new and experienced fundraisers, held networking events, a new member orientation and surpassed 200 chapter members! We expanded our mentoring and government relations program, awarded five scholarships, exceeded our donations to the Be the Cause Campaign and grew our reserve fund to $42,500! Many, many thanks to our AFP-HR board and their committees for working so hard behind the scenes to make this year such a success!
Please join us to celebrate the holiday season, our 2018 accomplishments and welcome the 2019 AFP-HR Board on December 18th at 11:30 at the Town Center City Club.
Holiday Greetings!
Laurie Harrison, MSEd
2018 President, AFP-HR
