President's Message

 February

Happy February!

February is the month we are reminded about love. We take time to show those who are close to us how much we love and care for them. As we approach an extremely busy year, don’t forget to show those who support you in your position how much you appreciate and care for them. It’s easy to get caught up feeling overwhelmed and busy and you couldn’t do it without staff, election workers, volunteers, elected officials, etc. A small thank you or I appreciate you goes a very long way during these gloomy months. I definitely appreciate all of you and the hard work you do daily for your community and this association.

Take Care!

WMCA Has Scholarships for That!

Scholarships

The UW-GB Clerks and Treasurers Institute in Green Bay is truly the premiere place to learn the skills you need to be the best Professional Clerk you can be. Aside from the institute being held virtually again this year, therefore saving your municipality money for travel expenses, the WMCA has scholarships available for any Clerk planning to attend the Clerks Institute. Applications must be postmarked by April 15. All members are encouraged to apply for a scholarship no matter which year of the institute you are in – Year 1, 2 or 3 or Clerks Completion.  Remember, Clerks Completion is the 4th year taken after doing the Treasurers Institute.

In 2021, we awarded 35 scholarships with 11 going to first year members, 15 going to second year members, and 9 going to third year members.  These scholarships totaled over $17,000.

Please ensure that you are an active member and include a letter of support from your supervisor or elected official.  Over 15% of applications were rejected in the past due to lack of membership or letters of support! Additionally, the Committee often makes their decisions based on narratives in each category. We would ask that you put more thought into your answers, demonstrating both the financial need of a scholarship, as well as what it would mean to advance your education.
