ExxonMobil, Chevron, and Apache Corporation are three of the member organizations with seats on the Committee that spoke about their energy transition initiatives and goals. The Committee will guide the Chamber’s climate- and energy transition-focused initiatives and activities, such as methane management, carbon capture and sequestration, waste-to-energy, and more. The Bilateral Chamber was selected by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to organize and execute the Worldwide Methane Abatement Advanced Technologies Reverse Trade Mission (RTM) series. The first of three global RTMs will take place in May, 2023. Energy industry decision-makers from both the public and private sectors, representing 15 countries from around the world, will visit the U.S. to learn about and acquire methane abatement technologies and solutions. The first delegation will include representatives from Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Algeria’s Sonatrach, and Libya's NOC. The students represented eight Arab states while debating issues facing leaders from the Middle East and North Africa. Dr. Adel Chaouch, President and CEO of ShaMaran Petroleum and the Honorary Consul of Tunisia in Houston and member of the Bilateral Chamber’s Board of Advisors, served as the distinguished keynote speaker.
