ETOA held an Educational Travel Seminar at the Churchill War Rooms on the 31st January. Samuel Vetrak, CEO of Studentmarketing, gave a presentation which raised as many questions
as it answered. He showed the enormous worth of youth travel in general but also underlined there is scope for a lot more research into educational travel. This was followed by a lively panel debate with Shannan Carter and Adele Youngs of SYTA and Helge Maul from Reisenetz and there were plenty of questions and comments from the floor. The seminar was a springboard for more cooperation between international associations and the next step is to create a charter with some clear aims.

Samuel Vetrak will be presenting at this year’s ITB in the Youth Hall 4.1 at 1pm on Thursday 7th March and ETOA will be participating. You can also learn more there about the initiative above.

As the Easter period is on the horizon, we will be holding a Tour Guide Working Group meeting on the 11th March 2013 at the ETOA offices in London. This group meets to discuss practical issues such as the current situation at the Vatican and the latest on the status of tour guides. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Linda Haydon

The Americas Interest Group, complete with new logo, will have its next meeting the day after MAMA on the 20th March at the VisitBritain offices. This is an independent group of which ETOA is a co-chair and brings together members of the UK tourism industry who work with the Americas, to learn more about the market and discuss how to continue to ensure its success. As this is an invitation only group, please contact Peter Muttit of Leisure Pass for more information about how to become a member.

The East of Paris, Meaux, is home to villages still bearing vivid signs from the First World War. Many of these were inflicted during the Battle of the Marne, a real turning point in 1914.
The Museum of the Great War, Pays de Meaux, is situated in the heart of the 1914 battlefields and presents a fascinating collection, unique to Europe, consisting of over 50 000 objects and documents, full unifroms and recreations of battlefields and trenches.
Make the most of your visit and see the British Memorial at La Ferté sous Jouarre (12 miles from Meaux). 3888 names are registered on the Memorial that was set up by the English Government in memory of the heroes that disappeared during the Battle of the Marne, 6 - 13 September 1914.
The Pays de Meaux Tourist Office places its knowledge and experience at your service to ensure your holiday goes off without a hitch. An individual contact is at your entire disposal to create tailor made products to satisfy your needs.
