Federal Jury Awards $217 Million to Kansas Farmers in Syngenta Corn Litigation

On June 23, Kansas corn farmers received a ruling in their favor in the first trial of the Syngenta corn litigation. The 7,300 Kansas farmers who are part of the class action suit claimed they suffered economic losses when Syngenta sold its Agrisure Viptera and Agrisure Duracade hybrids to U.S. farmers before receiving Chinese import approval for the products. China began rejecting U.S. corn shipments in 2013 following the detection of the Syngenta MIR162 trait in a shipment from the U.S.
This case has resulted in Hoosier farmers receiving a host of legal solicitations and promotions urging them to join a class action. With all of the promotional excitement surrounding this case, this litigation has captured the attention of producers across the state.
