President's Letter for March 2017

Hello All!

There have been some wonderful and exciting things happening with us as a chapter that I wanted to share. The SC Midlands ISACA Chapter has officially won a few awards, which will be presented to us in person at our Spring Leadership Conference. These awards are the regional K. Wayne Snipes award, Largest Chapter Growth (30%) for a medium chapter, and also the K. Wayne Snipes award…Worldwide! The worldwide award is a huge accomplishment that we should all be proud of. It would not be possible for us to be in this situation without all of the dedicated volunteers and members. Thank you for contributing to make this one of the top chapters in the world for 2016.

Shortly, we will have CISA, CISM, and CRISC training classes registrations available. Do not forget to sign up! In addition to the certification review classes, we have some exciting events such as business continuity, root cause analysis, and Cobit on the horizon. Be sure to check our website, www.scisaca.org, and your e-mail address on-file for more information about these events as they get closer.

Marc Punzirudu, SC Midlands ISACA Chapter President

                                                              Certification Exam Site Problem
IMPORTANT - Certification offer by ISACA

Site 3301 – Columbia, SC – Exam Day Issue

ISACA has been informed by our testing agency of some disturbances at the December 2016 CISA, CRISC, CISM and CGEIT exam administration at the Columbia, South Carolina exam site.  We understand that during the exam administration a fire alarm sounded requiring an evacuation. We were also informed that an event next to the testing rooms resulted in extraneous noise throughout the exam administration.  ISACA sincerely apologizes for the testing environment under which you took the exam.

To be equitable to all exam candidates adversely affected by this unfortunate situation, ISACA is providing a free May/June 2017 re-take of their respective exam to candidates who do not pass the exam. For those that do pass, you can proceed with applying for certification. Exam result emails will be distributed in January 2017.

Starting in 2017 the ISACA exams will be administered via computer-based testing (CBT). The first testing window will be 1 May – 30 June 2017. For those candidates that do not pass the December 2016 exam, ISACA will automatically move exam details to this testing window. Once moved, a confirmation of exam registration will be sent to these individuals.  This confirmation will include details regarding CBT testing and instructions on scheduling your testing appointment.

With the conversion to CBT, ISACA will be taking advantage of the network of exam locations the testing vendor offers that should minimize any distractions that occur during future exams. CBT sites will reduce potential distractions and be more conducive to the exam taking experience.
