The Greater Washington Innovation Awards are TONIGHT!
The Greater Washington Innovation Awards will be held this evening at the Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C. from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. The awards will celebrate thought leadership and creativity with some of the most innovative companies in the region in attendance. Click here to view the event program. Applications Closing Soon for the 2018 Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards

Long considered one of the must-attend events for businesses in the Washington region, the Northern Virginia Chamber’s Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards honor individuals, businesses and non-profits for above-and-beyond business leadership, employee engagement, and corporate social responsibility. New Event: Global Opportunities for Virginia Exporters

Join VEDP-International Trade and the Northern Virginia Chamber for an interactive networking event on Thursday, May 10 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM at the Northern Virginia Chamber. Meet with Virginia’s in-country trade representatives from Colombia, Czech Republic and Romania, Morocco and South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Southeast Asia, and United Arab Emirates at a global opportunities networking event. Only a Few Days Left to Nominate for the Northern Virginia Hospitality Awards
Presented by the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, The Hospitality Awards celebrates the area’s favorite restaurants, hotels, venues and suppliers nominated and voted on by members of the business community. These establishments are known for their enjoyable atmospheres, quality service, exceptional experiences, and tasty bites – embodying hospitality and excellence. Mix and mingle, meet and eat with members of the hospitality industry and business community for an evening of friendly networking as restaurants serve bite size samples of some of their best dishes at the awards on Thursday, June 7 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM at the Silverline Center Atrium. 2018 Distinguished Service Awards Applications Now Open
The Distinguished Service Awards honor individuals, companies, and non-profit organizations for their service to veterans in the Greater Washington business community. The Awards are presented in recognition of community stewardship and business leadership. The Distinguished Service Awards will be held this year on Wednesday, July 18 from 11:30AM - 1:30PM at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. Click here to read more about the submission process. ACT I Announces Mark Hughes as Chief Financial Officer
Advanced Concepts and Technologies International, LLC (ACT I), continues its investment in high-quality executive talent with the addition of Mr. Mark Hughes as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Timothy J. Healy Joins Buchanan & Edwards as Director of National Security
Buchanan & Edwards Inc., announced that Timothy J. Healy has joined the company as its new director of national security. Healy, a veteran of the Marine Corps who also served our nation for more than 25 years in various roles within the Federal Bureau of Investigation, brings Buchanan & Edwards additional insight into federal law enforcement and defense environments as well as expertise in cybersecurity, intelligence, counterterrorism, and federal and international law enforcement. In his new role, he will be responsible for growing Buchanan & Edwards’ customer relationships within law enforcement, homeland security and defense markets. Dulles Golf Park and Sports Center Hosts Red Cross Fundraiser
The American Red Cross in the National Capital Region and Dulles Golf Center and Sports Park are hosting a community fundraiser on Saturday, April 14th from 12:00 - 5:00 PM to support ongoing disaster relief efforts for the fall 2017 hurricanes. Dulles Golf Center and Sports Park are providing a special, discounted rate that will provide attendees with unlimited access to all Park facilities, with 100% of the admission fee going to the American Red Cross. In what is normally an $80 fee for limited access for a family of four ticket package, attendees will have unlimited use of miniature golf, batting cages, golf range, beach volleyball courts, basketball courts and picnic areas for $60. PAE ISR Selected to Participate in Virginia’s Global Defense Program

PAE ISR announced its acceptance into the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) Global Defense Program (GDP). The GDP is a one-year program designed to assist well-established Aerospace and Defense companies to diversify their business base by expanding into foreign markets. To participate, businesses must meet both quantitative and qualitative selection criteria. To learn more about PAE ISR, click here

American Red Cross Business Continuity Resilience Workshop Rescheduled
The American Red Cross in the National Capital Region is hosting a free Business Continuity and Resilience Workshop. This Workshop has been RESCHEDULED to Tuesday, May 15 from 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM. At the workshop, participants will learn about the most important features of small business continuity planning, complete key components of building their organization’s continuity plan, and much more! Volunteer Alexandria Names James Schenck of PenFed Credit Union the 2018 Large Business Philanthropist of the Year

As CEO of PenFed, James Schenck is the top executive of America’s second largest federal credit union, serving over 300,000 members in greater Washington. Mr. Schenck is an active volunteer for the PenFed Foundation that changes the lives of military families by helping veterans heal wounds, pay bills, own homes, and start businesses. Under Mr. Schenck’s leadership, PenFed is dedicated to supporting Alexandria and its citizens. In 2017, PenFed donated $4 million to organizations that support military families, including the Military Officers Association of America and Bunker Labs in Alexandria. George Mason University C-Level Development Program for Learning and Talent Professionals
Mason’s Chief Talent Officer program is the commercial sector version of the highly successful Chief Learning Officer first designed for the federal government. Guided by a separate CTO Advisory Council made up of learning and talent development leaders in a variety of industries, the CTO program builds the strategic capabilities of participants involved in talent – focused systems in their companies, and positions them for leadership roles in learning and talent development. There is no cost or obligation to apply, but hurry, to secure a seat in this spring executive cohort! Interested candidates fill out the online application here and forward a resume to Barb Agan. Mason’s Chief Talent Officer cohort begins May 9-10, “in residence” at the Arlington, VA campus.

Volunteers Needed for Luter School of Business Experiential Learning
Seniors graduating from the Luter School of Business this semester need your expertise! Students taking BUSN 418: have spent the entire Spring semester simulating the management of a global business. Each team made many decisions around how to deal with market forces, and how to respond to competition from other teams. That is where you come in. Teams have had varying levels of success throughout the simulated year. They need experienced business leaders to serve as “board members” and critique each student team's final presentation. Presentations are in two weeks, April 16th through April 20th. If you are interesting in joining, sign up using this link.
