PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
As I look back over the past two years and see how our lives have changed and more specifically how the GTC of IFMA has changed, I am truly amazed at the resilience and commitment that our chapter has shown. We have gone from all virtual meetings, to limited capacity meetings, to breakfast and lunch meetings, to outdoor afternoon socials. Our goal has and always will be to keep everyone engaged and to provide a valued resource to our members. The idea of providing different ways to engage you is how we achieve that goal.
As we begin the 2022-23 Board year, we have returned to a more normal, pre-pandemic way of life. We just held our 3rd Annual Education Summit and Awards Gala at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro and are planning for IFMA World Workplace in Nashville this September. Outside of our monthly chapter events, these are two examples where GTC of IFMA members experience educational and professional development opportunities. Our monthly attendance numbers are steadily increasing for both Professional and Associate members. This reflects that our chapter is strong and excited for the future.
The Board and Committee Chairs are excited for the upcoming year. During our annual Board planning retreat this Spring, I asked everyone to think about why they are a member of the Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA. I know my "why"; what is yours? We hope to see you on Wednesday, July 20th from 11:30a – 1:00p at Prestonwood Country Club for the swearing in of the 2022-23 Board to learn more about our 2022-23 goals and to share my "why" with you.

3RD ANNUAL CAROLINAS' SUMMIT AND GALA
In case you missed it, the IFMA chapters in North and South Carolina recently got together at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro for the Third Annual IFMA Carolinas Summit and Gala.
This annual event has become a great way to connect with colleagues across the Carolinas and recognize all that our members do to promote the value of IFMA. The half-day educational sessions featured presentations about smart buildings and the history of indoor air quality. The smart building presentations provided an insightful dialog about leadership buy-in and how employees might want to interact with facilities (software) that could, at some point, know exactly where they are at any given time. After the educational sessions, time was set aside for networking, followed by dinner. During dinner, the IFMA Carolinas committee presented awards to members of the IFMA Carolinas for their involvement in promoting facilities management across the Carolinas.
Winners of the awards were:
Innovation of the Year: Pressure Pros, IFMA Charlotte: For developing a drone capable of supporting up to 90 pounds so it can power wash hard to reach areas.
Young Professional of the Year: Dawn Moynihan, IFMA Greater Triangle Chapter: For her outstanding contributions to the Greater Triangle Chapter and role as IFMA Young Professional Mid-Atlantic Representative.
Associate of the Year: David Stephenson, IFMA Charlotte: For his outstanding vision and cultivation of the first Carolinas Summit and Gala along with his engagement with the Charlotte Chapter.
Professional of the Year: Travis Dodson, IFMA Greater Triangle Chapter: For his outstanding efforts in the IFMA Carolina’s Collaboration and his leadership in the Greater Triangle Chapter.
Of course, we couldn’t pull this off without the generosity of our sponsors The Budd Group, Simon Roofing, Carolina Cleaning Solution, KBS, EDS Waterproofing, Scottie’s Building Services, BMS Cat, Prism, Roofwerks, Corner Clean, and Little.
Kudos to the Planning Committee for pulling this together. If you’re interested in helping plan the Fourth Annual IFMA Carolinas Summit and Gala, please reach out to Anna-Martin via email.
