HFMA Michigan Great Lakes Chapter Update – March 2026
Chapter President’s Message
Dear HFMA Michigan Great Lakes Chapter Members,
The work we do in healthcare finance has never been more consequential. Across our organizations, leaders are navigating margin pressure, regulatory shifts, workforce constraints, accelerating technology, and rising expectations for value and transparency. The environment is complex — but it is also filled with opportunity. Moments like this require clarity of purpose, disciplined stewardship, and the courage to evolve.
This season aligns with the celebration of the Lunar New Year — a tradition rooted in renewal, intention, and strategic preparation. In the Year of the Snake, symbolism centers on wisdom, discernment, and thoughtful transformation. Progress is not reactive; it is measured and deliberate. That mindset mirrors what healthcare financial leadership demands today.
As we move through 2026, our Michigan Great Lakes Chapter is embracing that same forward-looking spirit. We are strengthening enterprise engagement across our region, expanding our Leaders in Action programming, deepening collaboration within Region 6, and creating meaningful opportunities for professional growth at every career stage. Our aim is not simply to convene — it is to cultivate leaders prepared to shape the future of healthcare finance.
The path ahead will require resilience, innovation, and partnership across disciplines and organizations. HFMA’s strength lies in our collective expertise and shared commitment to integrity. Sound financial management remains foundational to advancing patient care and sustaining the communities we serve.
This season invites each of us to think intentionally about our impact. What capabilities must we build to meet tomorrow’s demands? Where can we challenge legacy thinking and champion smarter, more sustainable solutions? Renewal is not passive — it is purposeful. It requires leadership.
I am confident in the talent and dedication within our chapter. Together, we will continue to elevate our profession, strengthen our organizations, and contribute meaningfully to the future of healthcare.
Thank you for your engagement and your leadership. I look forward to the progress we will make together in the year ahead.

Warm Regards,

Courtney Guernsey, FHFMA, EHRC, CRCR
President, HFMA Michigan Great Lakes Chapter
