Community and Business Involvement



Janet DeBerardinis
 received the Tech Titans - Technology Adopter for Caliber Collision Centers. This award recognizes a company whose core business is not technology products/services for outstanding adoption and application of innovative technologies to successfully change and impact its business results. Janet, CIO of Caliber Collision Centers, was up for two awards night. She missed out on Corporate CIO of the Year but secured Technology Adopter.
When she accepted, she credited the 28 members of Caliber's IT operation. "This is the one I wanted," she said shortly after receiving the award. "It's about my team. This is their award."

Tammy Richards was re-elected by a large majority for her third term as a trustee for Plano ISD. Tammy has served on the Plano ISD Board of Trustees for seven years, including two years as board president.

Renee Arrington was elected Board Chair for the Foundation for Young Women's Leadership Academy of Fort Worth. Renee was also nominated for the National Association of Corporate Directors, North Texas Chapter Board of Directors.

Artificial intelligence company Cien, co-founded by Margot Carter, closed the first round of financing in December and opened an R&D office in Barcelona, Spain. Cien's app helps sales leaders increase the productivity of their teams. The company was named "Hero of the Year" by Salesforce.com and is currently accepting beta customers. Erin Botsford was recently listed in Barron's as one of the Top 1,200 Financial Advisors in America! The rankings are based on data provided by over 4,000 of the nation's most productive advisors. Factors included in the rankings: assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice and philanthropic work.

Stephanie Chung was recognized as one of the Top 200 Business Coaches by Six Figure Coach Magazine.

Stacie Hyatt celebrated the launch of her new book on August 27 with friends and family, including several EWR ladies! Although the book - Fully Funded Outrageously Successful Ways to Fund and Alumni Chapter - targets a niche market, Barnes & Noble College, and Barnes & Noble Retail offer it along with the industry organization, CASE, serving 80,000 alumni professionals. Additionally, Amazon.com recently satisfied the backlog of orders placed in the past few weeks. Stacie would like to extend a special EWR thank you to Beth Bull for her expert review, Erin Botsford for providing an outstanding endorsement, Elizabeth Pospick for connecting her with a critical subject matter expert, and the rest of the amazingly supportive ladies who now own copies of Fully Funded!

Amy Messersmith has accepted the position of Chief People Officer for TDIndustries. TD is a Dallas-based firm with over 70 years specializing in the construction industry. Known for its Servant Leadership culture, Amy is thrilled to be a part of such an amazing Dallas institution.

Kathy Leonard has added the title of Chief Marketing Officer. She is now President and CMO of Freeman+Leonard, the company she shares with Valerie Freeman.

Gina Norris was recently appointed as Chair of the Finance/Audit Committee of the State Fair of Texas. Established in 1886, the State Fair of Texas is a not-for-profit that celebrates all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment.

Carol Nichols and Valerie Freeman's horse, Thermistor, won the $100K stakes race in Aurora, Colorado in August.  They are part of Mojo Racing Partners, owners of 6 racing thoroughbreds.

Valerie Freeman will be attending London Fashion Week and the London launch of www.primewomen.com with a private tea at Harry Winston and a cocktail party at Grace Belgravia.  Primewomen was recently named one of the top 100 blogs/websites for women.

Renee Arrington will be speaking at the HMG CIO Leadership Summit in Palo Alto - topic: Beyond Leadership – What Makes a Technology Executive Successful. She will also be moderating a Panel at the EFM IT Symposium - topic: The War for IT Talent.

Kathy Leonard was the guest speaker for the CASA board meeting in July. Her topic: Millennials and the Future of Giving. Her presentation focused on understanding this largest living generation in America today and learning how to engage them with your cause.

In May, Lynne Mabry was a speaker at the Dallas CPA Society "Convergence 2017" conference speaking on "CPAs Serving on Nonprofit Boards".

Erin Botsford had the opportunity to be the keynote note speaker at the annual Wings Mentors & Allies Awards Luncheon. The luncheon was in honor of those who make a difference in the lives of Dallas women. Proceeds from the Luncheon supported WiNGS’ programs to help women and families break the cycle of generational poverty.

Stacie Hyatt had a great summer on the speaking circuit as the keynote speaker for annual meetings of the Association of Business School Alumni Professionals (ABSAP) and the Alumni Professionals of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), as well as a speaker for the Alumni Professionals of the Southeastern Conference (APSEC).

 

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

Trisha Cunnigham, President and CEO, North Texas Food Bank

NTFB is a nonprofit with $120 million annual revenue focused on eradicating hunger in a 13-county area. Trisha was recruited recently for this role after the death of their long-time executive.  Previously Trisha had a long successful career with Texas Instruments where she led TI’s global social impact strategy. Over her career at TI, she led global media relations, crisis communications, advertising, digital media/web presence and the TI brand. She serves on the national board of Leadership Women, the boards of Girl Scouts of NETexas and Dallas Friday Group as well as the Junior League of Dallas Community Advisory Board. In 2011 the Center for Nonprofit Management named her Corporate Social Responsibility Executive of the Year and in 2013, the Alliance for Greater Works named her a Women Leading Greater Good honoree. She holds a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Murray State University.

Kristen Etheredge, MBA, Ph.D. Partner, A.T. Kearney

Kristen leads the Dallas office of A.T. Kearney, a leading global management consulting firm with offices in more than 40 countries.  Kristen’s experience includes a focus on oil, gas and chemicals, including capital intensive industries such as manufacturing, food processing, and construction. Dr. Etheredge has worked on the company’s part-time and Success with Flex initiatives as well as provided leadership in their Women’s Network.  She has written for many publications and was honored in 2013 with the “Working Mother of the Year” by Working Mother magazine and in 2015 with the “Top 100 under 50 Diverse Executive Leaders” by Diversity MBA magazine.  Kristen holds an MBA from The University of Texas, a Ph.D. in chemistry from Rice University and a B.S. degree from Texas Lutheran University.  She serves on the Corporation Board of Texas Lutheran University.

Michelle Frymire, CFO,  Service King Collision Repair Centers

Service King  Collision is a leading national operator of high-quality collision repair facilities which operates in 23 states and was named the No. 1 Best Place to Work by the Dallas and San Antonio Business Journals.

Michelle joined the Service King team in 2015.  A veteran in the finance industry, she has served in finance positions with American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Continental Airlines, Starwood Vacation Ownership and TruGreen Lawn Care where she worked on the spin-off of TruGreen from ServiceMaster. Michelle holds a degree in Economics from Austin College and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. In 2017, she was recognized by D CEO magazine as DFW’s Outstanding CFO of the Year.
