Shaw Cancer Center, a department of Vail Valley Medical Center (VVMC) recently added an important accreditation and recognition to its growing list of accomplishments.

The cancer center, located in Edwards, received a three-year
accreditation with commendation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a program of the American College of Surgeons that recognizes cancer centers for providing high-quality, patient-centered care.  read more news from VVMC

MMH Celebrates Community Leadership at Fall Clinics Event
At Montrose Memorial Hospital's 45th Annual Fall Clinics event on Friday, September 23rd, two individuals were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community.  

The Fall Clinics Physician of the Year Award went to Dr. David Dreitlein.  A Board-Certified physician specializing in Emergency Medicine at Montrose Memorial Hospital, Dr. Dreitlein was recognized by the Fall Clinics committee based on a number of criteria, including; innovative care, continuing education, ongoing contributions to quality medical care, and more.  read more

Heart of the Rockies Foundation Awarded $200k DOLA Grant

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Foundation has received a $200,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA). The funds will be used to help purchase a new CT scanner with cardiac capabilities for the Salida hospital. read more

Rob Santilli Named in Top 50 CAH Hospital CEOs         
Congratulations to Rob Santilli, CEO of Gunnison Valley Health on being named as one of the 50 Critical Access Hospital CEOs to Know in 2016 by Becker’s Hospital Review. Rob has been the CEO of Gunnison since 2012. Under his leadership, the hospital has executed a successful financial turnaround, accumulated numerous national awards related to quality care and patient satisfaction and much more.  read more news from Gunnison

Delta County Memorial Hospital Foundation Receives El Pomar Grant
Delta County Memorial Hospital's Foundation recently received a $2,500 grant from the El Pomar Foundation San Juan Regional Council.  Since 2006, El Pomar is one of the largest and oldest private foundations in Colorado and has given over $3.2 million to the six-county San Juan region.  read more

Community Hospital Adds Grand Valley ENT & Facial Plastic Surgery
Community Hospital has added to their growing service line with the addition of Grand Valley ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery.  Led by Katie McKee-Cole, MD and Adam Baker, MD, this new service line rounds out the continuum of services offered by Community Hospital in the Grand Valley.  read more

Aspen Valley Hospital Achieves Level III Trauma Certification
Trauma program reviewers with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment were one site at AVH in July, taking a good look at all aspects of their trauma program.  Under the leadership of trauma/general surgeon Joe Livengood, MD; program manager Melanie Crandall, RN; and trauma coordinator Bll Stout, RN, Aspen is happy to report that they have once again received Level III trauma designation.  read more news from Aspen
