In early December tour guides working with ETOA members are meeting in Ghent for a review of the season and a special fam trip kindly organised by Flanders Tourism. ETOA will also be meeting with members and industry partners at the USTOA conference in the USA.

The 2014/2015 "Destination Paris and its region" guide is now available to download!

The Regional Tourist Board (CRT) has created this guide for professionals (tour operators, agencies, etc.) to inform them of all the new offers in the Paris Ile-de-France region and to help them plan new tours. Particular focus is given to the new theme for the region in 2014: History
The guide includes a number of new features this year:
  • Personalised contacts for each place, event, exhibition, etc.
  • More detailed practical information: list of hotels, the main trade shows, coach operators, interpreter-guides
  • A section on the History theme that will underpin CRT actions throughout 2014: the First World War centenary, the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris, and the bicentenary of Napoleon's last campaign
  • An emphasis on Impressionism, a key theme for the CRT in 2013, with 5 topical tours bringing it right up to date
  • And of course, all the exhibitions, events and trends in the region in 2014

ETOA announces research partnership with Global Blue

ETOA has engaged in a
research partnership with Global Blue, the Switzerland-based experts on foreign travellers' shopping and spending.  Cooperation between the two organisations will focus on developing research on incoming markets to Europe, based on the globe shopper intelligence from Global Blue and ETOA’s in-depth knowledge of the inbound tourism industry.

ETOA and Global Blue are planning a
series of joint seminars, webinars and briefings and select data is also being made available to ETOA members.

Regarding the partnership Simon O’Connell of Global Blue  said: 'We are looking forward to working with the ETOA and furthering our connections with its many important affiliates. I hope that by sharing our globe shopper data and analysis with ETOA, and by learning from their expertise, both parties will be able to further their objectives of improving the travel experience for visitors to Europe.'

Able survey results

As editor of the UK’s favourite disability lifestyle publication, Able Magazine, it won’t surprise you to hear that I’ve recently harvested research about the habits of disabled people as they relate to travel. What might surprise you, and pleasantly, is that disability is a rare case – a growing marketplace
logo_able magazine

Able Magazine is all about ‘what disabled people can do, not what they can’t’ and this simple, well known mission statement has encouraged a loyal readership of disabled people. The fact that 2014 sees us celebrate our twentieth birthday also means that we are regarded as the place to find well-researched, experience based editorial on travel, as well as other lifestyle subjects.

The backdrop to our research is that we live in an age when, as a population, we’re ageing and when more of us become disabled through conditions such as arthritis and sensory difficulties relating to vision and hearing. Even so, disabled people are still interested in travel and are increasingly looking for opportunities do so, in comfort and safety. This should be a growth area for ETOA members.

I’d like to invite ETOA members to contact me directly, to discuss editorial or commercial projects connected with disability.
