With the approaching ETOA Hoteliers European Marketplace 2014 (HEM14) in Paris and March Marketplace 2014 (MAMA14) in London, a programme of specialist webinars and ETOA campaigns to support the European travel sector, now is a particularly good time to work with ETOA to strengthen the future of the B2B travel sector in Europe. Contact Charlotte about ETOA’s programme of events and membership today.

Following a European Court of Justice ruling on the Tour Operators Margin Scheme (TOMS), ETOA surveyed its UK-based B2B wholesalers on the impact this would have. The overwhelming response was this would be to the detriment of their business  and this message is now being taken to the UK Chancellor. ETOA will be surveying members during the year on other issues and always welcomes suggestions of areas that we should be covering.
Cooperation Agreement with Russian Union of travel Industry
On the 21st January, ETOA signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RUTI) during the UK-Russia Tourism Forum at the National Geographical Society in London. The two associations agreed to work on boosting tourism to and from Russia and tackling obstacles such as the current visa regimes that are in place. ETOA is also signing a Memorandum of Understanding in Delhi on the 30th January with the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) and Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI).

TTI Spring Conference

The Digilution of Travel
Tuesday 18 March 09:30 to 17:00
Venue: Strand Palace Hotel, 372 Strand, London, WC2R 0JJ
nearest undergrounds: Charing Cross & Covent Garden
The first travel website was launched nearly 20 years ago.  This was Expedia, launched by Microsoft in 1996. It was quickly followed by Sabre’s Travelocity.  Hotels and airlines then got in on the act. With the launch of internet airlines such as easyJet, the mainstream leisure travel companies came  to the realisation that being online did not mean putting your brochure on the web but what was needed was the ability for customers to book online.
Since those early days, the digilution of travel has not slowed down. Innovations and developments in the digital world have continued to arrive thick and fast with many innovations have been beyond anyone’s predictions.
