Northern Virginia Chamber Partners on MetroNow Coalition

The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce it is partnering with other leading business and civic organizations to launch the MetroNow Coalition, a group that will concurrently advocate in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC for sustainable funding, governance, and operations reforms of Metro in 2018. Over the past year, the Northern Virginia Chamber has been working with key stakeholders both publicly and privately on the issue of addressing the long-term sustainability of our region’s Metro system.

“Taking these concrete actions—immediately—will enable operational efficiencies we can only dream about today,” said Harry Klaff, managing director, JLL, and chairman of the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce. “Imagine a Metro system that doesn’t just run safely and on time, but is equipped to take advantage of innovative solutions and evolve with new technologies. We believe that vision is possible, but not without dramatic governance and funding reforms enacted in 2018 to preserve the region’s economic security, quality of life and global competitiveness.”

There is momentum to address this challenge in 2018 because leaders in each of these jurisdictions understand the importance of Metro to Northern Virginia and Greater Washington’s economic future. To learn more, please visit the MetroNow website here.
