Dear Members and Friends
Here
is an article from our friends
at SPD – the 4th in a series to
share insights and advocate for
a more inclusive workforce.
I know of several member
companies which practice
inclusive hiring and, in so
doing, enable people with
disabilities to find purpose and
support themselves while
benefitting the companies with
their skills sets. Now read on.
With my thanks and best regards.
Yours faithfully

Chief Executive
Singapore has made significant
strides in recent years to
promote the employment of
persons with disabilities
(PwDs), recognizing the value
they bring to the workforce. The
Singapore government has
implemented a range of funding
and support mechanisms to
incentivize and enable employers
to hire and retain employees
with disabilities.
One key initiative is the Open
Door Program (ODP) which
supports companies with
recruitment, training, and
accommodation of employees with
disabilities. This includes
financial grants to support the
cost of redesigning jobs like
equipment purchase and workplace
modification.
Additionally, the Enabling
Employment Credit (EEC) scheme
offers employers financial
incentives to hire PwDs.
Eligible employers can enjoy
wage offset of up to 20% of
monthly wage, capped at $400 per
employee, for PwDs earning under
$4,000 per month.
By tapping into these funding
schemes, companies can achieve a
more inclusive workforce and
gain access to a diverse talent
pool to drive innovation and
growth. Let's continue to
champion disability hiring in
Singapore and unlock the full
potential of every individual in
our workforce.
