President's Message
As we move into May, work is underway by your Board and Committee Leadership to begin planning for our next IFMA fiscal year which starts July 1. This is a very important time for our chapter as we assess the past year with an eye towards what will make next year even better. We hope to build upon the things that are working well and make adjustments or deletions to those programs or events that did not meet expectations. In short, we are striving to be the best stewards possible with the resources and talent available.

To that end, this is the very best time to consider serving on a committee, or moving up within the committee in which you serve to a leadership position. If you are not presently serving on a committee, you are missing the real opportunity to plug in, make new contacts and enjoy our chapter to its fullest. We need you and your ideas! I anticipate that many of you are concerned and reserved about committing any more time to your already full schedule. It is our desire that serving actively on a committee would take no more than 2-3 hours per month, on average, to do so effectively with maximum effect.

Would you please consider joining a committee and moving forward with us in a more determined way?  Feel free to reach out to me or anyone on the Board if interested!

Thanks, Randy Rabon, President 2015-2016

May Tour and Social
Please join us for a tour of the unique and innovative 21c Museum Hotel Durham located in the Hill Building, 111 North Corcoran Street, Durham, NC on Wednesday, May 18th beginning at 4:00PM.

The 17-story modernistic skyscraper was built in 1935 and was once known as the SunTrust Building.  In 2013, Kentucky-based 21c Museum Hotels bought the Hill building from Greenfire Development for a reported $5.25 million and redeveloped the property into a 125-room boutique hotel and art gallery with construction being completed in July 2015.  During this tour, we will pay special attention to the building’s historic features which have been preserved including the Art Deco-inspired elevator lobby with marble walls, terrazzo flooring and silver leaf vaulted ceiling as well as the historic banking hall with its soaring windows, original wood paneling, vault and safety deposit boxes on the lower level and the beautiful artwork for which 21c Museum Hotel Durham is quickly becoming known.  Following the tour, there will be a social at Tyler's Taproom, which is a short walk from 21c Museum Hotel.

We are seeking SPONSORS for the social at Tyler's Taproom.  Please contact Justin Barber if you are interested in sponsorship.

When:  Wednesday, May 18th

Unmask & Unleash Your Leadership:
Today’s reality is that leadership requires people with high levels of awareness and emotional intelligence who can empower, engage and align the team members. If you are ready to put down your masks and ignite your true leadership, don’t miss this powerful session with Jeff Nischwitz! Jeff’s new concept of integrated leadership – what he calls LIVINGSHIP™ – represents a new way of living, thinking and leading. Using concepts from his new book – Unmask: Let Go of Who You’re “Supposed” to Be & Unleash Your True Leader (Motivational Press 2014) – Jeff will share how to tap into your authentic leader, sharpen your leadership and accelerate your influence. Now is the time to unleash your authentic leader into your life, your business and your career.

Please note this meeting end time has been extended until 1:30PM to accomodate the paid speaker and the officers swearing in.
