| | New U.S. Section 301 Tariff Now In Force - Singapore in the 12.5% Tier |
| | A new U.S. Section 301 tariff took effect on 24 July 2026, covering 60 economies that collectively account for 99.4% of U.S. imports. Singapore-origin goods fall within the 12.5% tariff tier, while Malaysia, Indonesia, India and several other economies are subject to a 10% rate. | | Unlike the Section 122 measures they replace, the new duties have no rate cap or expiry date and apply in addition to existing Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) duties, legacy China Section 301 tariffs, and applicable anti-dumping and countervailing duties (AD/CVD). | | Around 2,120 product-level exclusions are available, although eligibility depends on the relevant ten-digit HTSUS classification and determination of non-preferential origin. A further excess-capacity investigation covering Singapore and 15 other economies is also expected to reach a final determination shortly. | | For further details on the new tariff measures and their potential implications, Taxise Asia LLC's client alert provides additional analysis. |
