GTC OF IFMA UNVEILS PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS & CODE OF CONDUCT

As a core value, the Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA Board believes in and is committed to diversity, inclusion and gender equity among its members, volunteers, committee, board leadership and community. We seek to establish an inclusive culture and welcoming environment for all! Diversity and inclusion improve the community for all Chapter members and participants and enhance excellence within the Greater Triangle Chapter.

With that said, at our Board/Committee Meeting on April 26, 2021, the Board unanimously approved the Professional Standards and Code of Conduct for our Chapter.  Please review our Policies related to all IFMA activities.

IFMA GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS ADVOCACY DAY 2021

Jeffrey Johnson, IFMA National’s Director of Government Relations, announced that his group plans to host an on-site Advocacy Day in Washington DC this September 28th and 29th. Last year’s event was held virtually due to Covid 19 restrictions.

Sponsored by IFMA National’s Public Policy group, Advocacy Day is an annual event that allows IFMA members and Chapter leaders to apply their FM expertise to the public policy process. IFMA members, represented in 130 chapters and 17 councils worldwide, manage more than 37 billion (yes, BILLION!) square feet of property.

Typically, each Chapter representative is given a list of current policy issues and a schedule of appointments to meet with their respective State Senate and House Representatives. Chapter representatives are charged with discussing the issues, especially as they affect their particular state, and to offer to be a resource for facility management-related information.

Plans are somewhat tentative at this time, but Johnson hopes that the group can still personally meet with their state’s members of Congress when we convene in September.

Want to get involved?  No experience is needed for this event - just a desire to help advance the FM profession on a national basis. Please contact Cris Karasek for more information!
