Valley Ventures Edition!
|
|
Valley Ventures is excited to introduce its 2018 spring Cohort. Congratulations to members: 6B Technologies, Agri-Logix, AjO, Azadi, BioFiltro, BLH Aqua Technology, BoxPower Inc., HerdDogg, Re-Nuble, Spooky Action, Sweep Energy, Tiny Farms, and Waterfind!
The program goals for the second cohort are the same as for the first: to grow sales and raise capital. Every company is working to further develop, and Valley Ventures’ goal is to provide the resources and connections they need to help them continue to increase their revenue by at least ten percent each month. In addition, if a company wants to raise capital, Valley Ventures staff will work closely with each venture to hone their communication techniques with investors so they can be as successful as possible.
“We are very excited about the diversity of companies in this cohort,” said Benjamin Francis, program coordinator of Valley Ventures. “Our companies solve a wide range of problems within ag and water, but we now have a few that are solving issues within energy. Such a strong group of ventures aiming to solve a unique problem will only reap beneficial synergies throughout the program.”

WET Member Highlight: Box Power Inc. |
BoxPower Inc. was formed in 2016, as a spin-off of a Princeton University research team that was part of an international team responding to the 2010 Haiti Earthquake disaster. In the months following the earthquake, hospitals, medical centers, and refugee camps were unable to obtain diesel fuel for their generators, leaving them completely without power. From this crisis, BoxPower's mission was formed: to develop and manufacture a renewable alternative to diesel generators.
BoxPower manufactures rapidly deployable, hybrid solarmicrogrids in 20-foot shipping containers. Each unit consists of a prefabricated solar array, battery bank, back-up generator, and intelligent energy management system capable of powering 3-5 full-sized US homes. Each system takes less than six hours to assemble, and multiple units can be linked together to meet energy demands of any size.
“Talk to your customers,” says Angelo Campus, co-founder and CEO of BoxPower, when asked for advice to new entrepreneurs. “Don’t assume anything. Listen, don’t pitch.”
BoxPower made contact with the WET Center through the CalSEED program, and is also a member of the Valley Ventures 2018 Spring Cohort!
