Peter Hotez, M.D., Ph.D.
Co-Director, Texas Children’s Center for Vaccine Development
Dean, National School of Tropical Medicine and Professor of Pediatrics and Molecular Virology & Microbiology, Baylor College of Medicine
Peter J. Hotez, M.D., Ph.D., is an internationally recognized physician-scientist in vaccine development, neglected tropical diseases and global health. In December 2021, Dr. Hotez led efforts at the Texas Children’s Center for Vaccine Development to develop a low-cost recombinant protein COVID vaccine for global health, resulting in emergency use authorization in India. Dr. Hotez is Co-director of the Center for Vaccine Development and Endowed Chair in Tropical Pediatrics at Texas Children's Hospital, where he is also dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine and Professor of Pediatrics and Molecular Virology & Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dubbed “The World’s COVID-19 Vaccine”, it uses a traditional recombinant protein-based technology that will enable its production at large scales making it widely accessible to inoculate the global population.
