A Message from the Chapter Vice-President, Mike Wescott

Putting MAC 2019 in the history books

I can’t believe that all the planning, scheduling, preparing and communicating about MAC is now over. Well, most of it at least. I still have a few details to nail down and pass on to the North Dakota Chapter.

I hope that all of you who had an opportunity to attend this year will agree that it
was packed full of great resources, networking, and much needed inspiration and education!

All of this truly happened because of a dedicated group of people who truly came through with a tremendous conference. I want to thank each of them by name for all of their extra effort and contribution. If you see these professionals, please thank them for making the 2019 MAC a huge success.

Rachel Janes handled all things with the Hyatt – what a huge and detail oriented job! Not a better person than Rachel to do this.

Laura Roddy, Maggie Berning, Kourtney Carson and Wendy Glick took care of securing, scheduling and accommodating nearly 40 speakers in total. And two were on maternity leave during this time! We had two speakers who couldn’t make it and yet the committee managed this all seamlessly. Many thanks!

Angela Cassette and Mitch Drees found all our sponsors and exhibitors, exceeding our expectations both in numbers and revenue. We can’t thank them enough for engaging so many good firms and individuals to assist us in our mission.

Katie Gunzelman and Bridget Mersmann handled the web site, the design of our materials (working with a wonderful graphics person – Kellee Kruse), signage and our program. With a lot of detailed work and precision, they collaborated so nicely with all the committees to accomplish these tasks.

Lisa Dodson managed the registration process, our post conference survey and made sure that we had a registration table staffed at all times. Thanks Lisa.

Chenay Sloan and Jill Bosley made our Sunday and Monday night receptions a true celebration. Fundraising professionals were able to come together to relax and enjoy our wonderful profession. And some great giveaways too!

And Bridget Mersmann, our Greater Wichita Chapter Administrator, while helping with just about all of the above committees, also kept us on track with regular chapter business the entire time.

And finally, all those from the Greater Wichita AFP Board who attended and volunteered in some capacity as a session moderator, at the registration desk, and even some as speakers. We couldn’t have done all this without you.

I learned a lot during this process and made some wonderful friends at the same time. Thanks to each of these fundraising professionals who have helped put Wichita on the map for a wonderfully inspiring, cultivating and transforming conference (get it – ICT)!
