Join St. Louis’ very own meetings group attorney Barbara Dunn and hotel attorney Lisa Devlin on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Embassy Suites St. Louis Downtown, as they host an interactive and informative program on today's hottest hotel contract issues - what is and what is not legally required in a contract, types of concessions that prove to be a win-win for both planners and suppliers, the necessary steps to take when a contract term is not kept by one side or the other.  Discussion will also cover lowest rate clauses, attrition, cancellation, force majeure, hotel clauses and disputes, and master service agreements.  Click here to register now!

EduCon Recap

Education, networking and a day-long opportunity to come together as a meetings and events industry culminated once again at this year’s annual EduCon event. Set in the well-appointed and newly opened River City Events Center, the Casino property offered the perfect setting for learning in all shapes and sizes. From fundamental tools for industry professionals just getting a start, to more advanced Excel techniques for planners and tools for suppliers, more than 145 attendees feasted on knowledge in all facets of the industry. From personal development to skills to activate once back in the office, the chapter delivered another year of well-rounded speakers and CIC accredited sessions.  Click here to read more.

Salute to the Stars

Michael GrayOriginally from Toledo, Ohio, Michael Gray began his career in Nashville, Tennessee working for a music association.  It is this position that led him to network within the meeting planning community and to become a Certified Meeting Planner; he has been a Meeting and Event Manager for Experient for seven years and primarily works with associations across the US and Canada.

Joining MPI in 2012, he has benefited from networking and education opportunities. “I feel like I am still learning so much from my peers!  However, I have learned to hold on to the joy of the job as the stress can sometimes steal that away.  Most importantly, do not be afraid to look to your peers for advice.  There is a wealth of knowledge to be found by collaborating.”  Click here to read more.
