Applications Open for the 2018 Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards

Long considered one of the must-attend events for businesses in the Washington region, the Northern Virginia Chamber’s Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards honor individuals, businesses and non-profits for above-and-beyond business leadership, employee engagement, and corporate social responsibility. George Mason University Offers Unique Benefits and Resources to Chamber Members
George Mason University and the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce have formed a strategic partnership to align the “voice of business” with Virginia’s largest public research university. ACT I Announces the Addition of Neil Albert as the Company’s President
Advanced Concepts and Technologies International, LLC (ACT I), announced the addition of Mr. Neil Albert as the company’s President. In this role, he will oversee ACT I’s growth strategy, business development, and financial performance. Most recently Mr. Albert served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of MCR, LLC where he developed, established, and guided their corporate growth strategy. Under his leadership, he transformed the company from a cost and financial services firm to become a market leader in Integrated Program Management support services; growing the company from $25 million to $150 million in revenue. Joe Craver Appointed CEO of CSS
The CSS Board of Directors announced that Joseph W. Craver III is CSS’ new Chief Executive Officer. In the relatively short period of time since Joe’s addition to CSS two years ago, the Company has won more than $130 million of contracts, implemented a new compensation system for its employee‐owners, implemented an assortment of employee benefits, and significantly reduced CSS’ healthcare costs. Dewberry Project Recognized with Two Best of NAIOP Northern Virginia Awards

The Northern Virginia chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP) recently recognized the MITRE 4 Building project with an Award of Merit in the buildings category and an Award of Excellence in the interiors category. Dewberry provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services on the project. The Award of Excellence was awarded to the MITRE 4 facility for its design of The Percolator, a coffee and retail space located on the third floor of the building. The space is conditioned via the building standard low-temperature, high differential, energy-efficient chilled water-based variable air volume air conditioning system. George Mason University Real Estate Leadership Lecture

The George Mason University Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship invites the business community to its annual Real Estate Leadership Lecture on Tuesday, March 20 at 5:30 PM in Arlington. The featured lecturer is Chip Akridge, founder of prominent real estate development firm, Akridge. PenFed Credit Union and White64 Named Recipients of National Financial Advertising Awards
For the second year in a row, PenFed Credit Union and its marketing and advertising agency, White64, have been named winners of an internationally recognized industry award for financial advertising. The Midas Awards® for The World’s Best Financial Advertising is the only awards show to recognize excellence in financial advertising and marketing on a global scale. PenFed and White64 won a Gold Midas Award for Editing and a Silver Midas Award for Non-Broadcast Video for their vignettes shown at the 2017 PenFed Foundation Night of Heroes Gala. Amyx, Inc. Announces Numerous Task Orders Awarded In Support of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA)
Amyx, Inc, announced that it has won six task orders in the first year of the Defense Logistics Agency’s J6 Enterprise Technology Services contract. Across those six task orders, totaling in excess of $30Million, Amyx will be providing a broad spectrum of services, including logistics systems modernization and cybersecurity support with particular focus on industrial control systems, risk management framework, and cloud migration. Additionally, Amyx will be providing multiple levels of support to DLA’s single largest system, the Enterprise Business System, which includes technical feasibility studies, sustainment, retirement and infrastructure of multiple SAP modules. Northern Virginia Chamber Member Robb Deigh Releases New PR Book for Small Businesses
Robb Deigh, president of RDC Public Relations, LLC has recently released his new book, “SPARK: The Complete Public Relations Guide for Small Business.” You have a great small business with great products or services. You’re active in Chamber activities, your website is adequate and you even do some regular posting on social media. So how come you still feel invisible and your competitors are getting all of the attention? The book is available on Amazon, here. George Mason University Deans’ Business Competition
George Mason University is hosting the annual Deans’ Business Competition on the Fairfax campus in the Mix@Fenwick on Thursday, April 12. The “2018 Day of Innovation” will be from 11 AM – 5 PM with three separate competitions: Traditional business, Social entrepreneurship & global impact, and Mobile game design. Cheryl Kosmann Joins SOSi as the Company’s Vice President for Procurement
SOS International LLC (SOSi) announced the hiring of Cheryl Kosmann as its Vice President for Procurement, tasked with overseeing the company’s subcontracting and procurement activities worldwide. Ms. Kosmann brings 30 years of supply chain and subcontract experience in the government and commercial sectors to SOSi. For approximately a year and a half, she served as the Chief Operating Officer of a small government contracting firm in northern Virginia. Prior to that, she was Executive Director of Procurement in the National Security Solutions division of L-3 Communications, a $10 billion organization supporting the U.S. intelligence community. Trowbridge & Trowbridge Expands Leadership Team
Trowbridge & Trowbridge, LLC (T&T), announced changes to enhance their leadership structure. The company has appointed Cass Panciocco to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO), and promoted long-term previous COO, Chris Brandell to Executive Vice President. In this capacity, Panciocco reports to T&T President & CEO Karen Trowbridge, and will leverage over 30 years' industry experience to provide leadership and oversight of T&T's customer-facing Operations and service delivery functions. He will also manage all Business Development initiatives which focus on the design, development, implementation, and improvement of industry leading solutions to federal customers in the defense and civil markets. Portion Of 495 Outer Loop Express Lanes To Close During Overnight Hours This Weekend
The 495 (Capital Beltway) Outer Loop Express Lanes will be closed from the Northern Entrance and the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) to the Jones Branch Drive interchange the weekend of March 9 to install beams for the Jones Branch Connector bridge, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. The closure will occur from 11 p.m. Friday, March 9 to 4 a.m. Monday, March 12. During the closure, drivers will be unable to enter the southbound 495 Express Lanes from the southbound general purpose lanes on I-495, the Dulles Toll Road entry point or the Jones Branch entry point.
