There's Still Time to Register for Distinguished Service Awards on 7/18
The Distinguished Service Awards honor individuals, companies, and non-profit organizations for their service to veterans in the Greater Washington business community. The Awards are presented in recognition of community stewardship and business leadership. The Distinguished Service Awards will be held this year on Wednesday, July 18 from 11:30AM - 1:30PM at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. Learn more about the awards and register for the event here

The Business Voice Summer 2018 Issue is Now Here!

The Northern Virginia Chamber is excited to announce the release of the Summer 2018 issue of The Business Voice, in partnership with InsideNova/Rappahanock Media LLC, Northern Virginia’s leading news source. The Summer 2018 issue offers a fresh new look, valuable content, in depth interviews, member highlights, and more. Each quarter, the magazine reflects a different theme with unique subject matter for you, our members. Every member will receive the Summer 2018 issue in the mail. Additionally, thousands of unique visitors will see the digital edition we will email out and host on our website. It is also featured on InsideNova’s website. Bite Me Cancer Announces Their 5th Thyroid Cancer Research Grant
On July 1, a 2-year research project will begin with Dr. Wayne Miles at The Ohio State University Medical Center. This 2-year grant will focus on Medullary Thyroid Cancer, which is the same cancer that Bite Me Cancer’s founder, Nikki Ferraro, was diagnosed with in 2010. The Washington Post Names Thompson Greenspon a 2018 Top Washington-Area Workplace
Thompson Greenspon has been named one of The Washington Post’s 2018 Top Workplaces in the Washington, D.C. area, an award they’ve received every year since 2014. Selection is based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC, which measured several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection. This year’s 150 honorees include government contractors, law firms, nonprofits, schools, and businesses. To read a full press release, click here.

The Washington Post Names LGS Innovations a Winner of the Greater Washington Area 2018 Top Workplaces Award
LGS Innovations has been awarded a 2018 Top Workplaces honor by The Washington Post. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC (formerly WorkplaceDynamics), a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. SmarterRoads Hackathon: Northern Virginia July 17
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is collaborating with The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) to organize a series of hackathons across Virginia this summer. The next Hackathon will be held July 17-18 at 1776's Crystal City Campus. The VDOT SmarterRoads Hackathon and Idea Jam Series brings together developers, planners, futurists, big data lovers and problem solvers to use their coding and problem solving abilities to address transportation issues with open data sets, including VDOT’s SmarterRoads data portal. SOSi Awarded Contract by U.S. Army to Provide Intelligence Technical Support Services Across Europe
SOS International LLC (SOSi) recently announced it was the sole awardee of a $78M contract to provide technical support to the Intelligence Directorate of U.S. Army Europe. During the contract term, SOSi will provide intelligence analysis, operations and planning, security support, and information systems operation, maintenance, and sustainment across the USAREUR area of operations.
