TECH COUNCIL CURRENT v2
Dear readers, March 2019
 ** SOLD OUT! **

 Tech-Summit-Instagram-1080x1080
If you’re among the 250 or so people who will take part in Monday’s sold-out annual Wisconsin Tech Summit at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, a natural question might be: “Why Lambeau?” Lambeau is symbolic of the emerging partnership between the Green Bay Packers, Microsoft, TitletownTech, the UW-Green Bay and other community leaders to build a stronger and more diverse economy in northeast Wisconsin. The Packers realize there is value in engaging in the state’s larger economy; Microsoft has research, education and broadband interests in Wisconsin (and a company president, Brad Smith, who hails from Appleton); TitletownTech is a new accelerator focused on high-growth startups; and the UW-Green Bay is led by Chancellor Gary Miller, who came from an entrepreneurial background and wants to give back to the campus and the city. We’re proud to bring the sixth annual Tech Summit to northeast Wisconsin and look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Tom Still, president

GUEST COLUMN: Planning for a smooth landing: Eight steps for a business transition

As a business owner, you've worked hard to build your business. But what about the day when you might want to walk away from it all?

Business transition planning is perhaps one of the most complex tasks a business owner will encounter. Many owners have a substantial portion of their family wealth invested in the business, a complexity that requires broader financial planning strategies to address retirement and estate planning needs.

If you lack a comprehensive plan to pass on your business, now is the time to give serious thought to a formal business transition plan. A well-crafted transition plan identifies a long-term strategy that can inform short-term decisions.

Improve the value of your business
When the time comes to sell a business, many deals collapse during the buyer’s due diligence when problems come to light. So, start cleaning things up before it becomes an issue for a buyer.
