ATL Airport District/Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Meeting Planning Overview

Welcome to Cvent's Meeting and Event Planning Guide to the ATL Airport District. Just a 10-mile drive from the heart of downtown Atlanta, the ATL Airport District serves as the home of the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC). The District offers visitors a chance to experience the kind of energy that can only be found where industry, technology, creativity and history meet. It is an ideal location to host tradeshows, meetings and corporate events, and is a fantastic place to stay and still be within minutes of metro Atlanta's famed arts, culture, sports, and nightlife. The ATL Airport District offers more than 8,000 hotel rooms with free airport shuttle service provided. In fact, the 403-room Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway and the 147-room Springhill Suites Atlanta Airport Gateway along with a newly constructed 204-room Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway, and the GICC, are all located on the Gateway Center campus.

One of the ATL Airport District's most convenient meeting travel features is its resident Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The airport spans a staggering 6.8 million square feet terminal complex with unparalleled amenities. The airport's SkyTrain, connects the terminal to both the GICC and the airport Rental Car Center via a short 2-minute, free ride, operating 24/7/365 and makes the GICC the only convention center in the world directly connected to a major airport.

The GICC spans a staggering 400,000 total square feet, all on one level with a flat roof design, which affords total quiet despite its near-airport location. Opened in 2003, the GICC offers 150,000 square feet of nearly column-free exhibit space (divisible into four exhibit halls); 90,000 square feet of pre-function space; 16,000 square feet of meeting space; and a 40,000-square-foot ballroom.

Aside from the GICC, the ATL Airport District offers a great variety of exciting nearby unique venues, just minutes away. Delegates can hold events in newly renovated airplane hangars originally constructed in the 1940s at the Delta Flight Museum; gather amid the world's largest aquatic collection, including manta rays and whale sharks, at the stunning Georgia Aquarium; sample more than 100 Coca-Cola brand flavors from around the world at the World of Coca-Cola; hold court next to great pandas, gorillas, and more at Zoo Atlanta; and marvel at a 13,000-work permanent art collection at the High Museum of Art, among many other unique attractions.

About ATL Airport District/Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport / Additional Info

The ATL Airport District is much more than the home of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the GICC, even though those are certainly two huge feathers in its cap. This peaceful unique town and fourth-largest urban historic district in Georgia is home to some of the nation's leading companies, including Coca-Cola, Delta, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sysco, and DHL, as well as the host of year-round arts and community events, all within easy access to the world-leading business and leisure travel market of Atlanta.

Standout ATL Airport District attractions include the Chick-Fil-A Home Office Backstage Tour, which invites participants to learn more about the company, its founder, its food, and its product development. ATL Airport District is also home to Atlanta Metro Studios, the largest movie soundstage in North America! The ATL Airport District’s proximity to downtown Atlanta also puts visitors within easy reach of the beautiful Atlanta Botanical Garden, exciting Fernbank Museum of Natural History, inspirational Inside CNN Studio Tour, and educational Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum, the home of the reputed largest oil painting in the world, among many other attractions.

ATL Airport District's most beloved and group-friendly restaurants include Urban Foodie Feedstore: Kitchen & Bar. Once a feed store and now a restaurant and bar, Urban Foodie Feedstore serves Southern fusion favorites in a historic setting, while The Pig & The Pint is a modern twist on a classic meat and three, serving hand-selected liquor and wines and many local artisan brews. Enjoy a patio view of the District’s Main Street area, hearkening back to yester year, where guests can unwind with a stiff drink Brake Pad, and just let it all sink in.
