State Farm Arena

Recreation
2 blocks away
Inside and out, the mandate from Turner Broadcasting System to the architects was clear: Make the arena big and functional, as well as intimate and memorable. Atlanta's new steel, glass and concrete arena has a unique roofline, as its predecessor did. But unlike the former Omni's egg-crate look, the new place has three expansive, layered roofs that come to life with lights at night. Stainless steel columns supporting the roofs spell "Atlanta" on the main, Techwood Drive side of the building and "CNN" on the International Boulevard side. Fans walk through the 60-feet-high letters to enter the arena. Opened in 1999, the newly renovated arena can seat up to 20,000 fans. Located just across Marietta street from the hotel. Home to the Atlanta Hawks, it is also the site of major concerts and entertainment events.
