Battle Creek, MI Meeting Planning Overview

Cradled by the lush rolling countryside between Chicago and Detroit, Battle Creek is a city that prides itself in offering cutting-edge experiences and facilities and at the same time honoring its small-town heart. For example, meeting attendees can shop its abundant local farmers markets or stroll along its woodland trails, all within a few minutes of Battle Creek event venues that are equipped with high-tech meeting space.

Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport is a 30-minute drive from downtown Battle Creek. The facility is served by Delta and American Eagle, with nonstop service to more than 30 destinations, including Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Madison.

Chief among meeting venues in Battle Creek is the combination of downtown's Kellogg Arena and McCamly Place Hotel, which are connected by a mall. Along with the arena's 30,000 square feet of flexible space, the 239-room McCamly Plaza offers 16,000 square feet of meeting space that includes a recently renovated penthouse space. Two blocks away, the W.K. Kellogg Auditorium offers beautiful acoustics and seating for nearly 2,000 people. Nearby, the 242-room FireKeepers Casino Resort Hotel offers groups 20,000 square feet of meeting space that includes a 17,500-square-foot ballroom, seven dining options and Las Vegas-style entertainment.

Special event venues in Battle Creek include Binder Park Zoo, one of the top 25 zoos in the nation. Groups can gather in meeting space or create a customized adventure, such as getting close enough to one of the largest giraffe herds in the country to hand-feed the lanky creatures. At the Sports Forum at Full Blast seasonal indoor/outdoor water park, there are a variety of spaces for groups of up to 600. And Southern Exposure Herb Farm, set in the rolling countryside about 15 minutes from downtown Battle Creek, allows groups to gather on its grounds or within in three restored farm buildings.

Battle Creek is replete with eateries that are perfect for meeting groups. At the award-winning microbrewery, Arcadia Brewing Company, wood fire pizza and barbecue are on the menu. Cornwell's Turkeyville USA offers everything Americana, from the classic Thanksgiving dinner, to homemade ice cream and freshly baked bread, along with a dinner theater. Two restaurants that cater especially to meeting groups are Clara's on the River and Schuler's Restaurant and Pub in Marshall. Clara's, set in a restored train depot, provides an extensive menu that can be easily customized. Schuler's, which has served the local community for more than 100 years, specializes in dishes featuring local seasonal cuisine.

Depending on the season, groups might take in the World Hot Air Balloon Championships, go kayaking or try out a game of geocaching (searching for hidden objects around the city by using GPS coordinates).
