Beltsy, Moldova Meeting Planning Overview
Founded in 1421, Beltsy is today considered the northern capital of the small republic of Moldova, as well as its third largest city. From the photogenic Vasile Alecsandri Square to modern event venues, Beltsy would be particularly interesting for Cold War history buffs, as many buildings from that time are still in use.
International visitors fly into Chisinau International Airport, 80 miles south, which is served by 15 national and international airlines, including Lufthansa with direct connections to Munich. Charter flights can be arranged to Beltsy International Airport, nine miles north since the airport does not currently receive commercial carrier service. Public and private ground transportation from Chisinau airport to the event venues in Beltsy may be arranged in advance.
The largest event venue in Beltsy, the Municipal Palace of Culture (constructed when the city and Moldova was part of the USSR), continues to serve as the premier meeting space in Beltsy for social events, political functions and international conferences. Located in the City Center, the Municipal Palace of Culture accommodates groups as large as 660.
The stylish, 4 Star Lido Lux Hotel, located in the residential Dacia District, features 25 guest rooms and nine apartments—as well as 11,000 square feet of meeting space. A comfortable conference room for 40 people is available at the 34-room Tineretea Hotel near the main bus station in Beltsy. Meeting space at the 83-room Beltsy Hotel includes two conference rooms for 80 delegates.
Among special event venues in Beltsy is the Youth Entertainment Center on Decebal Street hosts many community events and can accommodate 500. Theater-style seating for over 500 is available at the National Theatre "Vasile Alecsandri," one of the city's architectural gems. The Pinacoteca "Antioh Cantemir" museum offers 2,690 square feet of space amid displays of regional and European art.
Restaurant Lido specializes in Moldovian and international cuisine, as well as Moldova's famous wines. There are two banquet rooms that accommodate 500 and a smaller room for 50. The elegant Sala de Aur "Nunta" offers a private dining room for groups as large as 250 for a banquet of Moldovan cuisine . Another venue in Beltsy, the elegant Restaurant Tineretea offers full-service catering and is available for buy-outs for a catered dinner for 180.
