Billings, MT Meeting Planning Overview

Boasting the very best of a frontier spirit married with big-city amenities, Billings features a number of meeting spaces, unique venues, family-friendly attractions and outdoor recreation activities. Affectionately known as Montana's Trailhead, Billings is surrounded by the spectacular Rimrocks, or sandstone bluffs, spanning 200 to 500 feet in height, and dating back about 70 million years. Billings event venues take advantage of the miles of walking and biking trails that circle the city, making it easy for groups to get a fresh breath of Montana air in between meetings.

Billings is located in the south-central part of Montana, along the major I-90 passageway. The city is served by the Billings Logan International Airport, which provides nonstop service to nine cities. Visitors to Billings can hop on direct flights to and from Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Chicago, Atlanta and Seattle.

Chief among Billings event venues is MetraPark, a multi-facility event complex home to the 77,400-square-foot Expo Center, a 28,800-square-foot multi-purpose exhibit building, grandstands and arena for up to 12,000 people, as well as a half-mile track, horse barns, parks and large pond nestled throughout the complex. Next largest, the 317-room Holiday Inn Grand Montana Hotel and Convention Center, features more than 50,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel and convention center offers a variety of meeting rooms and spaces, ranging from an expansive ballroom to a poolside terrace, and such meeting amenities as full-service catering, audio-visual capabilities, business center and free Wi-Fi. Meeting participants can dine at the on-site restaurant, relax by the atrium waterfall, indulge in the property's indoor pool and fitness center or play the odds at the onsite casino.

Billings event venues include the Shrine Auditorium, which houses a 14,000-square-foot exhibition hall and 2,340-seat auditorium, as well as the elegant Chancey's Event Center, a 7,800-square-foot hall and patio venue set amid peaceful Montana scenery. The 1901-built Western Heritage Center showcases a collection of historic artifacts that tell the stories of the region, as well as offering an 1,800-square-foot event space. The largest, fully equipped performing arts theater in Montana, the 1,400-seat Alberta Bair Theater presents professional and local productions, as well as offering private rental capabilities.

Meeting participants can unwind at the Yellowstone Art Museum, known for its American art with a focus on progressive, regional contemporary art, or tour the 1903 red sandstone Moss Mansion Historic House Museum, outfitted with original draperies, furniture and Persian carpets. For a look at history long before the turn of the 20th century, the Pictograph Cave State Park is famous for its rock paintings created by prehistoric hunters.

Many of Billings' fine restaurants feature private dining space perfect for group events or after-meeting gatherings. Built in 1935 to teach milling at Billings Polytechnic Institute, The Granary serves classic favorites, while The Windmill has served as a popular supper club since the 1930s. The Rib and Chop House is a regional eatery serving such favorites as its famous baby back ribs and cedar plank salmon with Jamaican brown sugar glaze. Bistro Enzo radiates a European ambience and cuisine with American, French, Asian and Italian influences.
