Brookline Boston, MA Meeting Planning Overview

Farther afield, the small, leafy suburban town, adjacent to Boston and running along Commonwealth Avenue, is probably best known as the birthplace of John F. Kennedy (a State Park monument site) and as one of the wealthiest suburbs in the U.S. Home to the first country club in America, Brookline has an upscale image, and the latest special event venues are similarly tony.

Brookline is approximately eight miles from Logan International Airport and five miles form downtown Boston. It is accessible by bus and MBTA light rail (Green Line).

Special event venues in Brookline are eclectic and creative. Events for up to 150 people can be held in the 1888 Carriage House at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum. Larz and his wife began collecting automobiles at the turn of the century and often allowed locals in to see their new acquisitions. Today, the tradition remains, and meeting-goers can eat, drink and network amongst some of the world's legendary automobiles. Outside of the palatial home, tented facilities expand the capacity in warmer months.

Hotel venues in Brookline with meeting space include the Holiday Inn (400 people) and the Marriott Courtyard Hotel, Brookline (two meeting rooms). Longwood Towers' Alden Castle is a sleekly refinished Tudor-style former residential hotel, dating from 1924 and once home to Babe Ruth. Event spaces boast high ceilings and polished wood floors. The larger room seats 350 for dinner and 400 for receptions.

Locals in Boston know Brookline as the best place to get bagels on a Sunday morning, but there is more to the area's Jewish tradition. The landmark Temple Ohabei Shalom, Massachusetts' first Jewish congregation (opened in 1842) has meeting rooms available on a selective basis, but also offers private tours of its historic building complex. Elsewhere, intimate meetings can also be held at Brookline's Newbury College in the Weltman private dining room, helmed by students of the school of restaurant management.

Dining venues in Brookline for larger groups of people are not exactly thick on the ground, but La Morra and The Fireplace are consistently highly rated (La Morra does Northern Italian, Fireplace is seafood and Americana). Bernard's Gourmet Asian Cuisine at the Chestnut Hills Mall is a local favorite and has the added attraction of being near some of Boston's poshest shops.
