Chandler, AZ Meeting Planning Overview

Welcome to our Chandler meeting planning guide – a Chandler city guide for meeting planners. Planners visiting Chandler today may find it hard to believe that this busy Phoenix suburb was once known for its ostrich farms back in the 1910s. (After all, somebody had to provide all of those feathers for ladies' hats and boas.) Today, the city is much better known for its wide array of dining and shopping and recreational amenities. Chandler meeting venues offer spectacular golf and spas.

Chandler is located approximately 20 minutes southeast of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which offers service to more than 85 domestic cities and 19 international destinations. The city is also served by two major freeways.

Meeting venues in Chandler include 11 hotels and resorts; together, they offer nearly 1,500 guest rooms. The city's most historic hotel, the 295-room Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort, first opened in 1913 and has undergone extensive improvements since that time. The original building has also been restored and is now located on the National Register of Historic Places.

Planners in search of Chandler event venues that evoke the spirit of the Old West will want to "head 'em up and move 'em out" to Rawhide Western Town and Steakhouse, an authentic frontier town and Western-themed attraction that can host groups from 10 to 7,500. At the other end of the spectrum is The Castle at Ashley Manor, which is surrounded by lush landscaping.

Cultural venues in Chandler include the Chandler Center for the Arts, which houses three theaters and an exhibition gallery. It's also a great place for history buffs to start on a walking tour of historic downtown Chandler.

Meeting attendees who find themselves with a bit of free time will find it easy to indulge in some of their favorite activities - golf and shopping. Chandler has been a haven for golfers almost as long as Arizona has been a state, and offers a choice of five championship golf courses. Shopping enthusiasts will want to head to Chandler Fashion Center, and in the event they find that its 1.3 million square feet of shops, restaurants and theaters just aren't enough, they'll find plenty of others to choose from in Chandler.

Here's another interesting bit of Chandler history: The famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright founded his Taliesen Fellowship for young architects while he was staying in Chandler. That fact alone may just be proof of how inspiring the right meeting location can be.
