Chisinau, Moldova Meeting Planning Overview

Founded as a humble monastery village in 1436, the modern city of Chisinau is now the largest in Moldova, as well as the country's capital. Consumer and electrical goods, plastics, rubber, textiles and banking drive the city's thriving economy and support the diverse event venues in Chisinau.

Chisinau International Airport is served by 15 airlines with daily flights from cities such as Paris, Rome, Prague, Istanbul and Amsterdam. Average taxi fare for the 6.2-mile ride to Chisinau's central business district is USD $4.75-6.50.

The premier exhibition hall in Moldova, IEC Moldexpo, is located in a beautiful park area on 54.8 acres near Lake Valea Morilor, one of the 23 lakes in Chisinau. The venue's nine pavilions and grounds offer 43,055 square feet of indoor and 53,819 square feet of outdoor meeting space.

Hotel venues in Chisinau include the impressive 143-room Leogrand Hotel & Convention Center, which offers Chisinau's largest conference hall, the 8,200-square-foot Black Sea Ballroom, and three meeting rooms for up to 260. Following that, the 150-room Cosmos Hotel has three meeting rooms: The largest is 1,937 square feet and the smallest seats 15-18 individuals. The 5 Star, 80-room Jolly Alon Hotel offers traditional Moldavian hospitality, a private casino and a multi-functional conference hall for 100 people.

Special event venues in Chisinau range from the magnificent National Museum of Archaeology & History of Moldova, which rents the first floor hall and a temporary exhibition room to large groups; to the city's casinos, which are ideal for informal small groups wishing to relax. Casa Sarbatorii, a multi-purpose venues, can accommodate groups of up to 1,000. The Summit Events Complex features four elegant rooms; the largest, the Red Room, seats 220, while the Roman Hall seats 30.

Small groups who choose the private hall at La Taifas enjoy Moldovan cuisine, as well as a traditional greeting with wine and walnuts. Casa Vinului features two specialty restaurants that cater to groups and showcase Moldovan wines: Six Continents Restaurant is designed for 80-100 people and has the latest technology for presentations, and Via Moldovei is ideal for events for 200.
