Looking for the heart of attractions in Atlanta? Downtown Atlanta is the place to be. Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, CNN, the College Football Hall of Fame and SkyView Atlanta are just a few Downtown Atlanta event venues, and these are conveniently situated within a couple miles' radius of one another.
Served by the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, downtown Atlanta's premier meeting venue is the Georgia World Congress Center. It garners recognition as the country's 4th-largest convention center with 1.4 million square feet of prime exhibit space, 12 exhibit halls, 106 meeting rooms and 2 ballrooms for groups of up to 125,000. Next in the lineup of Downtown Atlanta meeting venues is the 8.9 acre Georgia Dome, the largest cable-supported domed stadium in the world. With seating for up to 80,000 people, 1.4 million square feet of exhibit space, 106 meeting rooms and 2 ballrooms, the Dome is equipped to host a wide variety of events from large conventions to sporting events and even more intimate business meetings.
A large number of Downtown Atlanta venues are major attractions, such as the World of Coca-Cola, where 62,000 square feet pay homage to the bubbly brew via 1,200 artifacts. The 4,800-square-foot Lobby can hold up to 225 guests for a reception and Taste It! can accommodate up to 100 people for a seated dinner. The new College Football Hall of Fame, which includes a 45-yard indoor playing field, can accommodate up to 1,450 people for a reception; the entire museum can host events for up to 3,500. Set against the backdrop of the Beluga Whale Habitat, the Georgia Aquarium's Oceans Ballroom has become one of the most sought-after event spaces in Atlanta, with its capacity for up to 1,200 people. Larger groups of up to 5,000 can rent the entire Aquarium, providing event attendees with exclusive after-hours access to all of the galleries.
In what was once upon a time the Macy's department store, one of the hottest new event venues in Downtown Atlanta is 200 Peachtree. The building now accommodates seated dinners for up to 1,000, with an 18,000-square-foot exhibition hall bedecked with 14-foot chandeliers original to the historical building. Connected to the Westin Peachtree Plaza, 200 Peachtree lies a short walk from additional leading Atlanta meeting facilities, including those at the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta, Marriott Marquis and Hyatt Regency Downtown. Event planners will find an impressive 25 meeting hotels in Downtown Atlanta offering more than 10,000 hotel rooms.
With 300 places to eat, drink and be seen within the four-square-mile area that is Downtown Atlanta, groups will be able to satiate just about any food craving in Downtown Atlanta. A recently renovated old Atlanta landmark, the SunDial Restaurant at the Westin Peachtree Plaza, gives diners the opportunity to enjoy local flavors created by Chef Jason Starnes while enjoying panoramic views of the Atlanta skyline at 723-feet above Peachtree Street. AAA Four Diamond Nikolai's Roof is another downtown venue offering breathtaking views of the city. Other popular Downtown Atlanta restaurants include Sweet Auburn Seafood, Agave, and the Atlanta Grill.
