Goa, India Meeting Planning Overview

Renowned for its beaches, water activities and world-heritage architecture, Goa is a sought-after MICE destination that continues to attract business events year after year. Cultures of the east and west blend in this former Portuguese colony, where Christmas is celebrated with the same zest as Hindu festivals, and local dishes like spicy fish curry and rice are eaten side-by-side with Portuguese chorizos. The kaleidoscopic blend of Indian and Portuguese cultures is best reflected in the city's architecture. The intricate churches, forts, elegant palaces, colonial houses, wildlife sanctuaries, and temples make for great sightseeing to visitors.

Goa is about a one-hour flight from India's commercial capital, Mumbai. The journey takes around six hours via train and 10 hours to reach the city by bus.

The International Centre Goa (ICG) at Dona Paula is one of the preferred conference venues in Goa. With its 42 air-conditioned rooms, 3 conference halls and several lawns, the ICG if fully equipped to host all types of MICE events. Other event venues and meeting spaces in Goa include the beachside Goa Marriott Resort & Spa, which has a 4,176-square-foot Grand Ballroom and the Vivanta by Taj - Fort Aguada, which has more than 19,000 square feet of space that can be used for corporate retreats or vivacious parties. The Kenilworth Beach Resort and Spa offers some of the best meeting rooms in Goa for small gatherings, while also home to a 2,080 square-foot banquet hall for larger functions.

A great time to plan an event in the city is around the annual carnival held in February. The carnival features music, dance, and entertainment of all kinds. The festival also includes staging of short plays that depict the tradition and culture of Goa.

The charm of Goa does not end when the sun goes down; the city has casinos, bars, pubs, and nightclubs, and is notorious for its vibrant nightlife. Goa is also a gastronomic paradise for foodies, with the scents, spices, and flavors of the local cuisine known to surprise and tantalize even seasoned travelers. The city's great dining scene is reflected in its numerous seaside shacks, laid-back cafes, and cozy restaurants.
