Gyor, Hungary Meeting Planning Overview

Known for its iconic Iron Rooster, Baroque buildings and old churches, Gyor is the sixth-largest city in Hungary. Strategically perched at the confluence of the Raba, Rabca and Mosoni-Duna rivers, the city has been coveted by everyone from the Romans to Napoleon. Today, the area has the third-largest industrial complex and second-richest trove of historic buildings in Hungary. Against this backdrop, meeting venues in Gyor frequently greet modern leaders of business and industry.

Most international visitors bound for event venues in Gyor arrive at Budapest Ferihegy Airport, 87 miles east of Gyor. The airport is served by 33 carriers, including Delta, KLM and Lufthansa. Travelers can rent a car for the 90-minute drive on the M1 or arrange for a taxi for $117-175, VAT and luggage included.

The 25,349-square-foot International Trade Centre is a modern, four-story building that offers six conference halls. The largest of these can comfortably seat up to 360.

The 60-seat Csengery Chamber Theatre has a mobile stage, while the Barsi Chamber and L White Salon can host between 50 and 400 guests. The Esterhazy Palace in the City Center is available for corporate gatherings, and guided tours of its lovely 18th-century rooms are available.

The 170-year-old Matroz Dunaparti Kisvendeglo serves 22 guests Hungarian specialties in a small events room just off Dunakapu Square. La Mareda Restaurant & Bistro, housed in a building that dates from 1617, can seat 25 in the small hall, host 35 in the winter garden and cater a reception for 60 in the big hall. Arany Szarvas Fogado, opposite Bishop Castle, offers an event hall for 90.
