Capital of the German state of Lower Saxony, Hannover is a city of half a million residents best known for hosting huge trade fairs and for Hannover MICE venues that boast spectacular Oktoberfests. Set about 20 minutes north of central Hannover, Hannover Airport serves as Germany’s ninth largest airport, accommodating more than 5 million passengers each year. The airport features access to domestic, international, regular, and low-cost airlines, with direct and connecting flights to major European cities and beyond. Passengers enjoy a number of shopping and dining options, as well as access to the Hannover Airport train line, which runs directly from Terminal C to the Hannover Main Railway Station in less than 20 minutes.
Greater Hannover Transport Network
The extensive Greater Hannover Transport Network serves as the city’s public transport system, operating 170 bus lines, 12 city tram lines, and 18 regional and suburban train lines in and around the city. Fares are based on a zone system. Passengers can purchase a HannoverCard to enjoy discounts on Hannover city tours, dining, and attractions.
Hannover Airport features rental car stations for Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz/Dollar/Thrifty, Sixt, and Volkswagen Financial Services Rent-A-Car, all located on the arrivals level between Terminals A and B.
Visitors traveling from Hannover Airport to central Hannover should expect to pay approximately 23 EUR in taxi fare.
