Kaohsiung, Taiwan Meeting Planning Overview
A bustling port city in southern Taiwan, Kaohsiung is known for its culture, scenic destinations, gourmet dining, and year-round sunshine. This ethnic melting pot is home to picturesque mountains and rivers, as well as cultural and historic attractions perfect for after-meeting adventures. Visitors can fly into Kaohsiung International Airport, located about 20 minutes outside of downtown. The airport serves as a major gateway, connecting major cities in Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, and China. Once in Kaohsiung, visitors can navigate the entire metropolian area via its Mass Rapid Transit system and public buses. A light rail system (Taiwan’s first) is slated for a 2019 completion.
Kaohsiung meeting venues include the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, which spans about 270,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space perfect for a variety of events. Opened in 2014, the center, located in the city’s New Bay Area, is the first multifunctional waterfront venue in Taiwan and can accommodate up to 4,000 attendees at one time. Located in downtown Kaohsiung, the International Convention Center Kaohsiung accommodates events of up to 2,000 attendees in its 33,000 square feet of event space and 23 meeting rooms.
