Hanford B Reactor Tours

Historical landmark
The Hanford and B Reactor "story" consists of some of the richest and most significant historical accomplishments in the world. It is the story of a community with a singular commitment to ending World War II, of the Manhattan Project, the world's first full-sized reactor, and the Hanford Reach...the last free flowing, non-tidal stretch of the mighty Columbia River. It is the story of American Indian tradition, early farming techniques, and railroading. It is the story of environmental research and restoration. From the largest remaining shrub-steppe eco-system in the world, to an "Atomic City" built overnight...it is the story of sophisticated advancements carved from a rugged northwest territory. It is a unique story, and one that will capture the hearts and imaginations of all who visit.

Gesa Carousel of Dreams

Recreation
The Tri-Cities offers the magic of carousel rides at the new Gesa Carousel fo Dreams. The carousel is located adjacent to the Southridges Sports and Events Complex off Highway 395 in Kennewick. The carousel project began in 2002 when our community purchased the 1910 Charles Carmel carousel, which originally operated at the Silver Beach Amusement Park in St. Joseph, Michigan. The 45 hand-carved wooden horses and three chariots have been restored. With their high-flying tails, flowing manes and bejeweled blankets, the pretty prancing ponies invite riders of all ages. Local carvers have added a cougar and a husky in recognition of popular state mascots. The merry-go-round sets on a 50-foot platter and is surrounded by brightly painted rounding boards, featuring photographs by Tri-City photographer, John Clement. The carousel is housed in a glass and wooden structure for year-round operation. The building features a gift shop, concessions, party room, catering kitchen, office and back deck. More than an amusement ride, the Carousel of Dreams also offers visitors a showcase of art and history.
