Kiev, Ukraine Meeting Planning Overview

The largest city in Ukraine, Kiev is the capital and a major center for manufacturing, engineering and tourism. Located in north-central Ukraine on the banks of the Dnieper River, the city, which is among Eastern Europe's oldest, offers an intriguing blend of historic, golden-domed buildings, rich history and culture. Kiev venues include sophisticated casinos and lively nightclubs.

Kiev is served by two major airports, Boryspil International Airport and Kiev Zhulyany International Airport. Boryspil, the largest airport in Ukraine with 45 carriers, is located 18 miles, or a $50 taxi ride, from the city. Zhulyany Airport, just four miles from Kiev, offers primarily domestic flights and taxi fare to the city center runs about $20. Within the city, public transportation options include buses, trams, funicular service on Vladimirskaya hill, trolleybuses and the underground Metro.

The International Expo Center, located on the Dnieper River, is a 624,306-square-foot complex with 301,572 square feet of exhibition space for 75,000, making it the largest of the event venues in Kiev. Fifteen conference halls and three exhibition spaces can accommodate industry conventions, trade shows, business meetings and even private functions. This modern complex also offers catering for up to 15,000, booth and stand rental, technical support, event decoration and planning assistance.

Architecturally, the 281-room InterContinental Kiev blends well with its historic neighbors and offers 8,021 square feet and six elegant venues for up to 800. The 234-room Hyatt Regency Kiev boasts four restaurants and 3,000 square feet of meeting space in downtown Kiev, with a capacity of 350 guests. The 136-room Opera Hotel's Grand Symphony Hall is an elegant space that accommodates 200.

Kiev Expo Plaza offers three exhibition halls totaling 301,572 square feet of meeting space in Kiev for groups of 15,000. With 30,138 square feet of indoor event space and another 19,375 square feet outdoors, the ACCO International Exhibition Pavilion is perfect for events up to 1,000. The Caribbean Club Casino can host groups of 25 to 250, who can also indulge in table games, live music and dancing.

Authentic Ukrainian fare and a 40-person private dining venue, styled after a traditional Ukrainian dining hall, is offered at Shinok Restaurant. Sumosan, an upscale bistro, offers Japanese cuisine and a private dining room for 35. The Goodman Steakhouse has banquet space for 25 guests and takes pride in being the only Kiev restaurant that serves New York-style steaks.
