Kowloon, China Meeting Planning Overview

Kowloon, comprising the Kowloon Peninsula and New Kowloon, is a densely populated urban area of Hong Kong with a population of over two million. Bordered by the Lei Yue Mun in the east, Mei Foo Sun Chuen and Stonecutter's Island in the west, Tate's Cairn mountain and Lion Rock mountain in the north, and Victoria Harbour in the south, Kowloon derives its name from the term Nine Dragons, which refers to eight mountains and a Chinese emperor.

Kowloon is served by Hong Kong International Airport, one of the world's busiest passenger airport and cargo gateways. Located on the island of Chek Lap Kok, this airport is an important regional trans-shipment center, passenger hub, and gateway for destinations in Mainland China (with 45 destinations) and the rest of Asia. Kowloon airport is well-connected to the city by trains, buses, taxis, as well as high-speed ferries to Mainland China and Macau.

Chief among meeting venues, Kowloonbay International Trade and Exhibition Center (KITEC) is located in the heart of Hong Kong's core business area. It comprises 1.76 million square feet of total gross floor area, which offers a comprehensive range of flexible office space and event venues. The center has 11 meeting rooms, ranging from 860 to 2,670 square feet. The largest, Star Hall, measures 30,000 square feet and can accommodate 3,600 people or up to 160 tables. KITEC also offers a local performance venue, called MusicZone@E-Max. This well-equipped hall can accommodate musical performances, events, or concerts with 400 - 600 guests.

Many hotel venues in Kowloon cater to the large and small meetings segment. These include the 600-room Regal Kowloon Hotel, which provides 14 beautifully designed function rooms, including the Versailles Ballroom (which can accommodate up to 450 guests). In addition, meeting facilities at the InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong are ideal for conferences with around 350 delegates. This 570-room hotel offers 11 meeting rooms, the largest one with a space of 3,765 square feet.
