Mosteiro dos Jeronimos / Jeronimos Monastery

Hosted the last World Exhibition in 1998 Expo offers much to suit varied interests. Contrary to historical center, Expo attracts its visitors with its 21st century modern architecture. In the entrance of the Park, Vasco de Gama Shopping Mall is located. For those who can’t do without shopping is a good option. Several attractions are located through out the park but if you don’t like to walk through those attractions, there is a teleferico (Lisbon Cable Car) connecting from one side of the park to the other. The biggest attraction is Oceanarium, the biggest oceanarium of Europe designed magnificently by American architect Peter Chermayeff. It offers live displays, environmental sounds capes and interactive media for its visitors. The other attractions in area include; an interactive science museum- the Knowledge Pavilion (Pavilhão do Conhecimento), the Virtual Reality Pavilion, Macau Pavilion, musical performances in the Atlantic Pavilion, bicycle rental, open-air concerts in Sony Square (Praça Sony) and the city’s tallest building Torre Vasco de Gama. The gardens are another great attraction and the Garcia de Orta Garden and the Water Garden shouldn’t be missed out. Ending your day by having dinner in the restaurants area of the Park is highly recommended.
