Welcome to Cvent's Meetings and Event Planning Guide to Lisle, a city guide for meeting professionals. A premier Chicago suburb with a flavor all its own, the Village of Lisle boasts a convenient location, excellent event facilities, exciting entertainment, historical treasures, and a variety of culture and leisure activities perfect for all groups. Ideally situated just 25 miles west of Chicago, Lisle welcomes more than 800,000 visitors each year, who flock to the village for its beauty, tranquility, and western Chicago suburban location that's within easy reach of downtown Chicago attractions. In fact, Lisle recently underwent a $20-million downtown redevelopment.
One of Lisle's most renowned assets is its excellent transportation network of air, rail, interstate, and bus service within the village and beyond. Lisle is 25 miles from both O'Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport. Ranking among the world's busiest airports, O'Hare International Airport sits 17 miles west of downtown Chicago and 25 miles northeast of Lisle. The hub for United Airlines and American Airlines, O'Hare International is the nation's only dual-hub airport, and provides service to and from more than 200 worldwide destinations. Located on the south side of Chicago and 25 miles east of Lisle, Midway International Airport is the city's second-largest airport; a number of low-cost carriers pass through Midway International's 43 gates. Both airports provide direct service to the regional PACE bus and Metra rail service, which both travel into Lisle. PACE provides feeder service to downtown Lisle's Metra train station, while Metra links downtown Lisle with downtown Chicago within 36 minutes via express service or one hour via local trains.
Beyond its extensive transportation network, Lisle features three full-service hotels, Hilton, Hyatt, and Sheraton, that specialize in meeting, convention, and event planning, as well as group tour services. The Sheraton Lisle Hotel boasts 25,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including a 14,000-square-foot IACC-approved Executive Meeting Center with 18 flexible function rooms, as well as an 11,481-square-foot ballroom and 78-seat amphitheater. The 242-room hotel also features a 24-hour business center, two on-site restaurants, a dedicated conference-planning department, and a variety of recreational amenities.
In addition to its full-service hotels, the Lisle area is home to a variety of unique venues that are well equipped for group functions. The internationally recognized Morton Arboretum, a four-season destination, home to trees from 40 countries, as well as eight formal gardens, 16 miles of trails, and more, welcomes groups to hold events at a number of indoor and outdoor event spaces, ranging from its formal Hedge Garden to the Gingko Room and Restaurant, which features an outdoor terrace and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sycamore trees at Meadow Lake. Groups can also hold indoor and outdoor events at the nearby Naper Settlement, a historic museum village that takes visitors back to the 19th-century Midwest. The 12-acre site offers costumed villagers, interactive exhibits, and historic buildings that double as event spaces. Groups can organize golf outings or indoor events at Lisle's River Bend Golf Club, a nine-hole, par 36 course with an adjacent restaurant.
