Macau, China Meeting Planning Overview

Set along the South China Sea, the former Portuguese colony of Macau and current autonomous region of China has transformed into a mega-playground, with casinos resembling Las Vegas, as it's the only place in China with legalized gambling. Once a tiny peninsula, Macau has had to grow its landmass in order to keep up with all the development. Of Macau's three islands - Macau Island, Taipa, and Coloane - the latter two became one, thanks to the Cotai Strip. A colossal landfill project that began in 2006, the Cotai Strip has essentially joined the two islands of Taipa and Coloane. Macau's location across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong (a high-speed ferry trip of just one hour), promises meeting participants plenty of excitement.

Those traveling to Macau often fly into Macau International Airport, which sits about five miles south of central Macau. Visitors can also fly into Hong Kong International Airport, which accommodates nonstop flights from North America and sits almost directly across the water from Macau International Airport. Once in Macau, visitors can utilize its public bus system and taxis, which together serve as the principal means of transport in the area.

Convention and event venues in Macau are plentiful. The Macau Fisherman's Wharf Convention and Exhibition Center, located along exciting Fisherman's Wharf, features three halls, five function rooms, and a spacious foyer, as well as a multi-functional stage perfect for a variety of group gatherings. The Centro de Ciencia de Macau Convention Center, located within the Macau Science Center, features a grand hall and four meeting rooms, as well as access to the science center’s state-of-the-art planetarium. The Macau Tower Convention and Exhibition Centre offers a unique blend of meeting-ready spaces and entertainment, as it's home to not only a variety of event venues, but also one of the highest free-standing towers in the world, and one that features adrenaline-rushing activities from bungee jumping to climbing.
