Pasig, Philippines Meeting Planning Overview

One of the city-municipalities of metro Manila, Pasig has evolved into an important commercial center; with its rapidly growing financial district, the Ortigas Center, it is now second to Makati in importance. While Pasig MICE event venues generally serve local industries, some are quite luxurious. Groups will enjoy exploring the landmark Pasig Cathedral, as well as having proximity to Manila.

The airport serving Pasig City, the Nino Aquino International Airport in Pasay, is a 30-minute drive from town. The airport connects the metro Manila region to many domestic locations and major Asian destinations, including Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.

While there are no large MICE venues in Pasig itself, the nearby Quezon Convention Center has space for groups of up to 7,000 delegates. Others are located around 30 minutes away in the city of Pasay; these include the 70,000-square-meter Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), the 46,647-square-meter SMX Convention Center (with space for 18,000 delegates) and the World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM), with space for 14,000 delegates.

MICE venues in Pasig include the DAP Conference Center in Pasig’s Ortigas Center, which is ideal for small seminars and conferences, having a conference hall that can accommodate up to 200 and function rooms for smaller groups; no sleeping rooms, however. The 632-room Edsa Shangri-La in the Ortigas Center has 28 meeting rooms, over 3,000 square meters of meeting space, and a 1,056-square-meter ballroom accommodating 1,400. The 230-room Oakwood Premier Hotel Joy-Nostalg Center Manila accommodates 400 in its 2 ballrooms. The 168-room Linden Suites has functions rooms for up to 200. The Astoria Plaza Suites has 2 boardrooms and nine function rooms, the largest accommodating 250. The property is presently upgrading 120 of its guest rooms to 4 and 5 Star standards. Nearby in Makati, the 696-room Shangri-La Hotel accommodates 2,100, while in neighboring Quezon City, the 263-room Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria has a ballroom for 1,500.

Pasig is ideally situated to explore the charms of Old Manila. A half-day tour of Pasig could include visits to the 18th-century Pasig Cathedral and Lopez Memorial Museum showcasing Filipino art and sculptures. A historical walking tour of Old Manila showcasing to view examples from its Spanish Colonial era can include a visit to the national museum, a stop at the Walled City, and a visit to a 17th-century stone church. A group outing for participants and spouses can be organized to Hidden Valley (nestled between Mounts Makiling and Banahaw), which is dotted with orchids and warm volcanic pools. Team activities can include mountain hikes.
